Job description

Under general supervision, provides advanced level emergency and non-emergency care to the ill and injured, to include assessment of illness and/or injury, management of such patients, preparation for transport, transfer of information, and patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Possess good verbal communication skills
  • Interact professionally with other health care personnel
  • Interact professionally with disabled, disadvantaged, sick and injured persons
  • Cleans all equipment following appropriate disinfecting procedures, including inside & outside of vehicles
  • Restocks and replace used linens, blankets and other supplies
  • Complete daily vehicle inspection and makes careful check of all equipment so that the Ambulance is ready for the next run
  • Maintains Ambulance in efficient operating condition
  • Keep clean and neat at all time
  • Wear company issued uniforms while on duty; additionally, be responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of uniforms
  • Secures all passengers in van per the Company Passenger Securement Policy
  • Responsible for safe loading/unloading of all passengers
  • Responsible for safe operation of vehicle in all environmental and traffic conditions
  • Understands basic medical-legal principles & terminology
  • Ensures all reports, letters, and documentation are accurate and completed in timely fashion
  • May be required to administer first aid to a coworker if necessary.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • CPR & First Aid Certified
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Candidate must meet Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certification requirements before starting employment

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to safely operate EMS vehicles and essential equipment
  • Bend, sit, kneel, and lift up to 125 lbs; push/pull objects over 50 lbs
  • Maintain physical agility for safe patient handling in demanding environments
  • Tolerate extended periods of driving or riding in an ambulance
  • Perform effectively in physically strenuous and emotionally challenging situations
