Job description

Why This Opportunity
This is a great opportunity for a construction accounting professional who wants visibility, stability, and the chance to support a growing U.S. operation backed by a larger international organization. You'll step into a hands-on leadership role with meaningful ownership over close, job costing, reporting, and audit support.
About the Company
Our client is a growing organization in the Construction and Infrastructure space with a strong focus on specialized project work. The company supports complex commercial, industrial, and infrastructure-related projects across multiple markets.
This is a stable, well-resourced environment with the feel of a growing U.S. business and the support of a larger parent organization. The team is collaborative, operationally focused, and continuing to build scalable accounting processes as the business grows.
About the Accounting Manager Role
The Accounting Manager will oversee key accounting operations, including month-end close, job costing, WIP reporting, construction billing, and audit support. This role will work closely with finance leadership, accounting team members, and operational stakeholders to ensure accurate project and financial reporting.
The Accounting Manager will initially supervise a staff-level accounting team member, with the opportunity for broader team leadership over time. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys being hands-on while also mentoring others, improving processes, and supporting a growing business.
Role Responsibilities
  • Lead month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, reporting, and financial review.
  • Manage job cost accounting to ensure accurate tracking of labor, materials, subcontractor costs, and project activity.
  • Prepare and analyze WIP schedules, including over/under billings and project status updates.
  • Support construction billing processes, including AIA billing, progress billing, schedule of values, change orders, and contract billing.
  • Partner with project managers and finance leadership to review project performance, budget-to-actual results, and cost-to-complete analysis.
  • Support percentage-of-completion revenue recognition and related reporting.
  • Assist with external audits, internal reviews, and parent-company reporting requirements.
  • Mentor and supervise accounting staff while helping strengthen accounting processes and controls.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally with 2+ years in a Construction, general contractor, or project-based accounting environment.
  • Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP schedules, construction billing, and cost-to-complete analysis.
  • Experience with percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
  • Familiarity with construction ERP systems such as Foundation, Sage 300, Viewpoint, or similar platforms.
  • Strong Excel skills, including the ability to work with detailed accounting and project data.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit support.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience, with the ability to coach, review work, and support team development.

Why This Role Stands Out
  • Join a stable, growing organization in the Construction and Infrastructure space.
  • Step into a visible role with direct exposure to finance leadership and operations.
  • Own important accounting areas including close, WIP, job costing, billing, and audit support.
  • Be part of a company investing in growth, process improvement, and stronger accounting infrastructure.
  • Enjoy a hybrid schedule with regular onsite collaboration and remote flexibility.
  • Work in a role that offers both hands-on accounting ownership and leadership opportunity.
