What is weekend accounting?

Weekend accounting refers to accounting jobs or tasks that are specifically scheduled for weekends. These positions are ideal for businesses that operate seven days a week or need additional support during peak periods. Weekend accountants may handle bookkeeping, financial reporting, reconciliations, or other essential accounting duties outside of standard weekday hours. This role is well-suited for those seeking flexible work arrangements or supplemental income.

What are the typical responsibilities and workflow for an accountant working weekend shifts?

Accountants working weekend shifts often handle tasks such as processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports to ensure business continuity outside standard hours. They may also address urgent issues or provide support to teams that operate on weekends, such as retail or hospitality operations. The workflow is usually more independent, with fewer in-person meetings and a greater reliance on remote communication tools. This role requires strong self-management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently to meet deadlines set for the following week.

Description

DSRT SURF isn't a traditional workplace, and we're not looking for a traditional Accounting Manager.

We're building a fast growing hospitality and lifestyle brand where operations, guest experience, surf culture, and business performance all come together in a unique way. We're looking for a highly organized, detail oriented, and solutions focused accounting professional who is excited to help build financial structure and operational processes from the ground up.

The Accounting Manager will lead the day to day accounting and financial operations of DSRT SURF while helping maintain organization, accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency across the business. This role will oversee accounting processes, financial reporting, reconciliations, vendor management, payroll coordination, and financial administration while partnering with leadership and operational departments across the property.

This role will work closely with operational leadership and ownership while helping establish strong financial organization and scalable business processes as DSRT SURF continues to grow.

Requirements

  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and expense tracking
  • Maintain accurate financial records, reporting, and accounting documentation
  • Coordinate payroll related processes and financial administration
  • Assist with budgeting, operational reporting, forecasting, and expense management
  • Manage vendor accounts, invoices, and financial communication with service providers
  • Oversee month end close support and accounting organization processes
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy across all financial information and reporting
  • Help establish scalable accounting systems, controls, and operational workflows
  • Collaborate with leadership to support efficient business operations and financial performance

What You Bring

  • Previous accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or operational accounting experience required
  • Hospitality, resort, restaurant, or multi department operational experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
  • Equivalent operational accounting experience may be considered in place of formal education
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with accounting software, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in fast paced environments
  • Professional communication and problem solving skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally
  • Ability to work collaboratively with leadership and operational teams
  • Stoke

Who You Are

  • You're curious, positive, and excited to help build something unique from the ground up.
  • You enjoy creating organization, improving processes, and helping operations run smoothly behind the scenes.
  • You bring professionalism, accountability, and adaptability to everything you do.
  • You're dependable, detail oriented, and comfortable balancing both day to day accounting responsibilities and larger operational priorities in a fast moving environment.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay is commensurate with experience. This position is designated as an FLSA exempt, full-time salary role and may include employer sponsored health benefits, paid time off, surf perks, and additional company or partner related benefits based on eligibility and company offerings.

Current Work Environment

Appropriate footwear and adherence to all company safety guidelines will be required while on site. Certain roles may require work boots or other safety related attire during this phase of development.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain seated and work on a computer for extended periods
  • Ability to occasionally move throughout operational and office areas as needed
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hospitality and operational environment

This is a full-time position. Flexibility to work additional hours, weekends, or operational support shifts as needed may be required based on business needs.

Why DSRT SURF
