Environmental Services (EVS) Associate
At the Rescue Mission of Trenton, “Environmental Services” is more than a facilities role - it’s a frontline position in protecting health, restoring dignity, and creating a safe place for healing.
The EVS Associate is a key member of our team and a steward of our “Culture of Clean.” In our emergency shelter and behavioral health environment, your work directly supports the well-being, safety, and recovery of every individual who walks through our doors.
This is not just custodial work—it is mission-driven service that helps create stability for people during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.
What You’ll Do
As an EVS Associate, you help maintain a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment across our campus and care settings. Your responsibilities include:
Infection Prevention & Control
- Disinfect high-touch surfaces such as doorknobs, railings, and light switches
- Help prevent the spread of illness in high-density living environments
- Follow healthcare-grade cleaning and sanitation protocols
Facility Cleaning & Sanitation
- Clean and maintain resident rooms, bathrooms, and shared spaces
- Perform deep cleaning and turnover of rooms after resident departure
- Respond to spills and urgent sanitation needs
Safety & Compliance
- Follow strict environmental health and safety standards
- Document cleaning activities to support regulatory inspections
- Ensure compliance with behavioral health and shelter facility requirements
Light Maintenance & Campus Support
- Replace light bulbs and report facility repair needs
- Assist with furniture movement and room preparation
- Support light outdoor and landscaping tasks across our 150,000+ sq. ft. campus
Culinary & Dining Support
- Support sanitation of kitchen and food service areas
- Help maintain cleanliness standards during and after meal service
- Contribute to safe and sanitary food service operations serving 70+ meals daily

Compensation & Schedule
- Pay Rate: $17.51/hour
- Additional Incentive: $1.00/hour bonus (paid quarterly)
- Schedule: Full-time (32–40 hours/week)
- Must have weekday and weekend availability
