Job description

Associa is hiring a Maintenance Technician for its large-scale, 55+ active adult community in Haymarket, VA.
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general building and grounds maintenance, coordinating contractors, maintaining preventative maintenance schedules, and assisting in the overall upkeep, appearance, and operation of the community clubhouse, amenities, grounds, and event spaces including a wedding and banquet venue.
Work hours are M-F 6:30-3PM.
Duties which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following tasks:
  • Under general supervision, performs building, grounds, and facility maintenance and repair requiring a working knowledge of carpentry, drywall repair, painting, landscaping, minor plumbing, minor electrical work, and general handyman repairs.
  • Performs routine physical labor including digging holes, lifting and moving materials, landscaping work, setting posts, basic grounds improvements, and assisting with event setup and breakdown.
  • Assists in maintaining the appearance, cleanliness, and functionality of the clubhouse, wedding venue spaces, common areas, trails, and community amenities.
  • General knowledge of standard tools, materials, methods, and practices involved in building and grounds maintenance including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, landscaping, and preventative maintenance practices.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision while effectively prioritizing and completing assigned tasks.
  • Ability to coordinate and oversee outside contractors and vendors to ensure work is completed properly and in accordance with community standards.
  • Ability to solicit and obtain bids and proposals for maintenance, repair, and improvement projects as directed.
  • Responsible for maintaining preventative maintenance schedules and assisting in tracking inspections and service intervals for building systems and equipment.
  • Basic computer skills including email, internet research, and the ability to utilize work order or maintenance tracking systems.
  • Other duties as requested.

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2+ years of resident maintenance experience to include light plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.
  • Customer service driven and team collaborator.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and spoken.
  • Ability to work proactively and prioritize tasks, manage time, follow-up on a routine basis, and utilize online ticketing system.
