Full time/On-Site/Exempt/40 hours a week, Monday through Friday incorporating occasional evenings and weekends as needed. The Museum is an EOE.


The Digital Content Specialist for the Nevada Museum of Art supports communications, marketing, and audience engagement initiatives via the creation, management, and distribution of digital content across social media platforms, website updates, email communications, and other digital channels. Reporting to the Director of Communications, this position is responsible for managing the Museum's social media presence, developing original content, supporting digital communications initiatives, and helping connect audiences with exhibitions, collections, educational programs, events, and community initiatives.


Tasks and Responsibilities


SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT

  • Manage day-to-day social media presence and strategy (originate, optimize, and execute content) across multiple platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads, TikTok, X and other social channels).
  • Monitor and engage with online audiences by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely manner, ensuring communications reflect the institutional voice and values.
  • Track and analyze social media performance, monitor emerging trends and platform developments, and provide recommendations to strengthen audience engagement and digital communications efforts.
  • Prepare, edit, format, and optimize digital assets, including photographs, graphics, GIFs, and short-form multimedia content for use across social media, web, and other digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Communications to identify, develop, and manage relationships with influencers, content creators, community partners, and other external stakeholders that support communications and marketing objectives.

CONTENT DEVELOPMENT AND STORYTELLING

  • Attend programs, exhibitions, events, and community activities to capture content, identify storytelling opportunities, and engage audiences in real time.
  • Create, write, and edit, multimedia content for the website, social media channels, email communications, and promotional materials.
  • Prepare, format, and adapt communications materials for digital distribution, ensuring consistency with brand standards and established visual identity.
  • Maintain editorial calendar in collaboration with Director of Communications.
  • Ensure all digital content is accurate, accessible, and consistent with the Museum's brand standards, visual identity, and strategic communications objectives.

WEBSITE AND DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS

  • Create engaging, story-driven content that brings Museum priorities, initiatives, and current events to life for diverse audiences.
  • Serve as the primary website administrator, ensuring the content is current, accurate, and the digital assets adhere to current UI/UX best practices and accessibility standards.
  • Support website usability, accessibility, and search engine optimization (SEO) through ongoing content updates and adherence to established digital best practices.
  • Regularly audit content to ensure information remains accurate, accessible, and up to date while identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders on website enhancements and digital projects.

ANALYTICS AND REPORTING

  • Track and analyze social media, email, and website performance.
  • Use data insights to inform content strategy, optimize performance, and improve audience engagement across digital platforms.
  • Prepare regular reports on digital engagement, audience growth, and campaign effectiveness.
  • Manage email marketing performance, audience segmentation, and list maintenance to support effective audience engagement and campaign outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Digital Media, Art History, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in digital communications, content creation, social media management, or a related field.
  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media platforms, creating digital content, and engaging online audiences.
  • Experience managing website content through a content management system (CMS) and familiarity with email marketing platforms.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments, respond to constructive feedback, and support organizational goals.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience working in a museum, arts, cultural, nonprofit, or higher education environment.
