Job description

As the Web Content Strategy Specialist (Operations) at Interactive Strategies, you’ll help shape digital experiences for organizations doing meaningful, high-impact work. We partner with leading nonprofits, associations, and B2B organizations to solve complex problems through smart strategy, thoughtful content, and strong digital experiences.

We’re a people-first, award-winning digital agency where good ideas matter, great execution is expected, and we have a lot of fun along the way. This role often involves balancing multiple client projects with competing deadlines, so success requires strong organization, adaptability, and comfort working independently. If you’re excited to work with nationally recognized organizations and you enjoy untangling complex websites, organizing large amounts of information, and bringing clarity to messy content ecosystems, you’ll thrive in this role.

While you’ll have opportunities to write and edit, writing isn’t the primary focus of this position. Instead, you’ll bring our content strategies to life through content planning, audits, workflows, migrations, CMS implementation, and QA. You’ll help keep complex projects organized, accurate, and moving forward, ensuring our strategists, designers, developers, and clients have the information and structure they need to deliver exceptional digital experiences.

Because you’ll work across the full website development process, this role also offers a strong foundation for growing your digital content career. You’ll collaborate closely with experienced content strategists and gain exposure to content strategy, UX, SEO, accessibility, client consulting, complex project management, and website planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support content strategy for website redesigns and builds, from discovery and auditing through content development, migration, and launch
  • Present content audit findings, recommendations, and deliverables directly to clients and confidently explain the thinking behind your work
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative content audits and recommend whether content should be retained, revised, consolidated, relocated, or removed
  • Organize and inventory large volumes of website content and maintain accurate content documentation throughout projects
  • Manage content review and approval workflows using Bynder Content Workflow and other project management tools
  • Build and maintain detailed spreadsheets tracking content status, ownership, recommendations, approvals, and migration
  • Develop page outlines, content models, information architecture recommendations, and wireframe content
  • Write and edit digital content where needed, applying UX writing, accessibility, SEO, and brand best practices
  • Enter, migrate, format, and QA content in CMS platforms such as WordPress, Drupal, and Sitecore
  • Collaborate closely with strategists, designers, developers, project managers, and clients throughout the website development process
  • Identify opportunities to improve content processes, documentation, and workflows

You'll Likely Enjoy This Role If You

  • Genuinely enjoy detailed, structured work
  • Like organizing and making sense of large amounts of information
  • Get satisfaction from bringing clarity and order to complicated projects
  • Don’t mind repetitive or production-oriented tasks when accuracy matters
  • Are comfortable spending significant time working in spreadsheets and content management systems
  • Can zoom out to think strategically and zoom in to catch small details
  • Are comfortable switching between projects, clients, and types of work
  • Enjoy improving processes, workflows, and documentation
  • Are comfortable speaking with clients and presenting your work, recommendations, and rationale to groups

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in digital content, content strategy, content operations, UX/content design, or a related field
  • Experience supporting complex website redesigns, migrations, or builds
  • Demonstrated experience conducting content audits, inventories, or other large-scale content analysis
  • Strong proficiency with spreadsheets and comfort managing large, detailed datasets and content trackers
  • Hands-on experience entering, formatting, migrating, or QAing content in CMS platforms such as WordPress, Drupal, or Sitecore
  • Strong writing and editing skills for digital platforms, even though writing is not the primary focus of this role
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and follow-through
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills, including experience presenting recommendations or work directly to clients or stakeholders
  • Comfort collaborating across disciplines and responding thoughtfully to client questions and feedback
  • Familiarity with SEO, accessibility, UX, and web content best practices
  • Agency or client-services experience preferred
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn new platforms, workflows, and technologies
  • Interest in emerging AI tools and their applications to digital content work

What We Offer

  • Salary range $70,000 - $87,550 per year (dependent upon experience & skills)
  • A collaborative, supportive creative team environment
  • Flexible work schedule, including remote work options
  • A beautiful office in Washington D.C., where local staff go to the office 2x/week
  • Opportunities for mentorship, professional development, and career growth
  • Exposure to a wide range of industries, with a strong focus on nonprofits
  • Access to training, conferences, and networking opportunities

Benefits
