Job description

We are NFX, the fastest growing pre-seed and seed venture firm in the world and one of the fastest growing brands in tech. Everything we do is about giving startup founders an edge.

We’re a passionate 50+ person team of founders, operators and leaders building software, creating tactical startup content, and investing in world-class startups.

Now we’re expanding our Founder support team with the addition of a new role – Growth Marketing Strategist

The Guild, our community of Founders, is the heartbeat of NFX. In this role, you will help Founders plan for and improve their growth and marketing strategy and execution by engaging deeply with their early team.

You’ll work closely with our in-house growth expert to polish and execute a playbook that helps accelerate growth for the portfolio. You’ll work with one to two companies at a time, engaging deeply, learning their business model and helping them improve their growth and revenue.

This is a one of a kind role to engage with a large volume of top companies in a highly operational and deep way. This is a career track role, but should you decide to move on at some point, we expect this experience would likely provide you a launch pad to either joining a top startup as head of growth or start a company yourself.

Who are you?

You’re a doer. You have an instinctual bias for action and aren’t afraid to get your hands dirty doing operational work for a variety of companies.

You’re a fast learner. You have strong experiences in marketing, but readily acknowledge you’re not an expert in every facet. You love to immerse yourself in new tactics and growth concepts as they emerge, whether it be learning Tik Tok ads, best practices for discord community creation or whatever comes next.

You’re low ego.You may interact with some of the most talented Founders in the world, but you’re also unabashed at doing the gritty stuff that makes growth marketing work, whether it be keyword research, vetting marketing associate candidates or the myriad of other stuff needed to build great marketing teams.

You’re mentally flexible. You multi-task, context switch and regardless of industry (from marketplaces to gaming to bio to web3), you understand the business models, marketing best practices and success metrics across the board. You’ll embrace the opportunity to learn all of this and more.

The nitty-gritty stuff that you probably have on your LinkedIn but don’t define who you are:

  • 1-5 years experience in marketing or growth at a high functioning startup or similar – the more full stack (i.e. familiar with many marketing skills and domains), the better
  • Good excel and analytic skills
  • Experience interacting with and presenting to Founders and other executives
  • Bonus points if you’ve been a Founder or spent time in consulting or banking.
  • These experiences are highly different, but would be valuable for this role

If this sounds like you, here’s some of the tasks that what you will do in a typical week @ NFX:

  • Meet with an NFX Founder and understand their business goals and what they’ve done in marketing so far
  • Investigate tactics that might help that company hit their goals – this could vary as wide as your imagination could take you from SEO research to investigating potential affiliates to digging up ways to reach target accounts
  • Help a marketing employee at a portfolio company with a key task such as job specs or spacing our martech infrastructure with them
  • Putting together presentations and playbooks on marketing FAQs for our portfolio

Send us:

  • Your LinkedIn or resume
  • A short paragraph or couple of sentences about why you’re a good fit for the role

NFX is a collaborative and close-knit team that is well taken care of. You should expect:

  • Competitive Comp
  • Carry Dollars at Work
  • Generous Benefits package
  • 401(k) with employer contribution
  • Flexible Time Off
  • A team of high-caliber, principled, fun people
  • An atypical venture culture led by tech Founders not financiers
  • A vibrant and modern office right in the heart of SF’s Financial District (5m walk to Montgomery BART and across the street from Salesforce Transit
  • Center when we want to be in the office)
  • If you’re in the bay area, you may come to the office 1x/week or more (hybrid and flexible approach to office utility.
  • That this role could be based anywhere in the United States
