The Practice Finance & Operations Manager position will support and strengthen the financial and operational infrastructure of the Milliman Advanced Risk Adjusters™ (MARA) software product business. What You Will Do

The Practice Operations & Finance Manager serves as a central operational leader within MARA, strengthening the financial and operational infrastructure of the practice while supporting effective decision-making across leadership teams. This role combines financial operations, reporting, process improvement, and practice support responsibilities to improve efficiency, increase visibility into key business metrics, and enable scalable growth.

The individual in this role will work independently and collaboratively to manage financial processes, develop reporting and operational insights, improve workflows, and identify opportunities to create leverage across the organization.

Finance & Revenue Operations
In this role, you will:

  • Manage client billing, revenue allocation, usage tracking, and related billing administration activities through preparation of transactions and monitoring of operational metrics
  • Support payment application and collections processes
  • Support fee schedule administration and pricing-model-based allocations
  • Maintain revenue-by-client reporting and monthly projections
  • Support monthly expense tracking, P&L reporting, and financial analysis activities
  • Maintain financial allocation and recategorization processes
  • Support commission calculations and financial system entries
  • Maintain billing systems including client setup, payment structures, and associated reporting components
  • Assist with financial modeling, forecasting, and operational planning activities

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Develop and maintain recurring financial and operational reporting processes
  • Support KPI tracking and performance monitoring activities
  • Analyze trends and identify opportunities for improved operational effectiveness
  • Build and improve Power BI dashboards and reporting tools
  • Support ad hoc operational and financial analyses
  • Create reporting that provides visibility into practice performance and resource utilization

Practice Operations

  • Administer operational workflows and support systems including FreshDesk and related tools
  • Maintain client lists, mailing lists, and usage data reconciliation processes
  • Coordinate internal documentation, policies, and knowledge repositories
  • Support operational controls and process consistency across the practice
  • Support Concur and expense management processes
  • Respond to staff questions and operational requests related to practice resources and workflows
  • Provide operational and administrative support across practice functions as needed

Client Services & Administrative Support

  • Maintain contract, amendment, invoice, and implementation trackers
  • Support release note mailings and client communication activities
  • Support meeting documentation and follow-up activities
  • Support ticketing and other client management tools
  • Assist with PowerPoint, Word, Adobe and training material formatting and editing for client-facing documents
  • Support client related conferences, newsletters, surveys

Process Improvement & Infrastructure Development

  • Introduce and refine processes that improve efficiency, standardization, and collaboration through identifying recurring work and developing scalable solutions - optimizing workflows
  • Create and maintain documentation, policies and procedures for product group
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT) to accelerate workflow efficiency and productivity and to improve team effectiveness while ensuring accuracy in results
  • Serve as operational “glue” across finance, client services, product, development, and leadership teams

What We Are Looking For

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, operations, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in finance, business operations, accounting, or a related field
  • Experience supporting a consulting practice or department through budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting, or operational analysis activities
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
  • Experience with Power BI, reporting tools, or financial systems preferred
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to improve efficiency and workflow effectiveness preferred

MARA is at the heart of today’s leading population healthcare analytics platforms. It provides patient risk insight using demographic, medical claim, and pharmacy claim information. Available since 2009, today MARA supports more than 300 healthcare organizations. Government healthcare programs, not-for-profits, mutuals, for-profit health plans, and healthcare providers rely on MARA models to evaluate risk for financial and medical management applications.

The Milliman Advanced Risk Adjusters team is a group of risk adjustment product experts, healthcare actuaries and analysts, data scientists, and software developers dedicated to developing top-performing risk assessment models and easy-to-use software. We’re passionate about building better longitudinal healthcare analytics tools and empowering healthcare stakeholders to solve complex cost and care challenges.

The MARA Operations and Client Services team supports the entire MARA product group, internal and external clients and financial reporting. Employees balance working independently and collaborating with other team members on a variety of projects concurrently.

Location

This is a remote position. Candidates hired into this role may work onsite in select Milliman office locations, if they prefer. The expected application deadline for this job is June 30, 2026.

Compensation

The overall range for this role is $78,800 - $145,130. For candidates residing in:

  • Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia the range is $90,620 - $145,130.
  • All other locations the range is $78,800 - $126,200.

A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.
