Job description

About HexClad

HexClad is a pre-IPO premium cookware brand headquartered in Los Angeles, with a global footprint across DTC, Amazon, wholesale, Costco, and international channels. Endorsed by Gordon Ramsay and built on our patented hybrid technology, we are redefining the category through design, performance, and brand-led commerce.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Manager, Web Development to serve as HexClad's senior technical lead and day-to-day development authority. You're the kind of developer who doesn't just write clean code — you set the standard for it. You thrive at the intersection of hands-on execution and team leadership: you're in the codebase when it matters, you're the first call when something breaks, and you're the person junior and mid-level developers look to when they need guidance. You'll own the architecture and quality of HexClad's web ecosystem, drive technical execution across our Shopify-powered platforms, and partner cross-functionally to turn business goals into elegant, scalable solutions. You bring deep expertise, a high bar for craft, and the communication skills to operate effectively across engineering, eCommerce, and marketing.

Location | In Office, LA HexQuarters

Time Zone Expectations | PST

Details | Full Time — Exempt

Reporting to | Head of Website

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Serve as the senior developer and primary technical resource for HexClad's web platforms — architecting, coding, and reviewing solutions across Shopify, custom applications, integrations, and internal tools.
  • Architecture Ownership: Own the overall architecture of HexClad's web ecosystem, ensuring systems are efficient, maintainable, scalable, and aligned with evolving business needs.
  • Hands-On Development: Remain an active contributor to the codebase — writing production-quality code, leading code reviews, and setting the quality bar for the development team.
  • Team Management & Mentorship: Manage, coach, and develop a team of developers; set clear expectations, enforce best practices in workflows, version control, testing, and deployment, and support career growth.
  • Sprint & Project Execution: Lead sprint planning, technical scoping, and project prioritization — ensuring the team delivers on time without sacrificing quality.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate closely with eCommerce, Marketing, Creative, and Operations teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions that drive performance and conversion.
  • Performance & Security: Oversee and maintain site performance, Core Web Vitals, security protocols, and reliability across all environments; ensure compliance with PCI, GDPR/CCPA, and applicable standards.
  • Innovation & Best Practices: Stay current on web development technologies, frameworks, and Shopify platform evolution; proactively bring improvements and innovations to the team's practice.
  • Documentation: Ensure thorough documentation of architecture, systems, integrations, and processes is created and maintained for continuity and scalability.

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years of web development experience, with strong command of modern frameworks, Shopify (Liquid, Hydrogen, Storefront API, checkout extensibility, metafields/metaobjects), JavaScript (React, Vue, or similar), and backend technologies.
  • 2+ years in a lead, senior, or people-management capacity overseeing other developers.
  • Proven track record of hands-on coding alongside architecture ownership and technical roadmap contribution.
  • Expert knowledge of responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, accessibility standards, and performance optimization.
  • Strong experience with APIs, third-party integrations, and database design and management.
  • Proficiency in version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, environment management, and deployment strategies.
  • Familiarity with PCI, GDPR/CCPA compliance and security best practices across web systems.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills — you move quickly and methodically when things break.
  • A natural communicator and mentor who can hold technical authority while bringing teammates along.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Love of food and cooking is a plus, though not required to thrive in the role.
