Description
The Graphic Designer contributes directly to efforts that support enrollment growth and revenue goals and is at the forefront of bringing Husson's brand to life across every visual touchpoint. The position plays a critical role in supporting Husson's enrollment and advancement goals by creating visually compelling print and multimedia designs that engage and strengthen Husson's brand presence. This position also offers a creative designer the opportunity to express Husson's brand through the creation of clear, compelling, high-impact design and accessible digital content that captures the identity, energy and ambition of the campus. This position will ensure that materials are visually strong, consistent with Husson's brand standards, and delivered in a coordinated and timely way and helps translate goals into effective visual communication. This role involves being a creative problem-solver capable of managing diverse projects and delivering innovative visual solutions within a highly collaborative setting. Flexibility, attention to detail, collaboration, and a strong understanding of audience needs are central to the success of this position.
This is an on-site position, work for this role will be performed on campus.
Example of Duties
  • Support the Marketing & Communications, Advancement and Enrollment Management Offices with their marketing, branding, and event initiatives.
Project Creation/Development:
  • Design and develop print and digital materials of various sizes and formats that support University communications outreach and enrollment efforts - including (but not limited to) brochures, publications, flyers, event programs, posters, environmental graphics, advertisements, graphics for web, email, social media and digital signage from concept to completion.
  • Demonstrate creative solutions for print and digital projects.
  • Write and/or review specifications and request quotes for projects.
  • Enhance and manipulate images for optimal quality and impact across various platforms.
  • Implement identity and brand guidelines, across all platforms from print to digital.
  • Integrate creative direction and feedback from supervisors and university stakeholders to refine deliverables.
  • Prepare print projects for production - both internal and external.
  • Ensure University creative work aligns with graphic and brand standards, ensuring clarity, consistency, effective communication and creativity are maintained.
  • Work effectively through self-direction and as part of a creative team to complete projects, reaching out for help and input when necessary.
  • Assist with the development of creative templates and tools that can be used by departments to increase the professional look of their materials.
  • Assist with maintaining digital asset library, digital templates, and design systems to streamline creative workflow.
  • Implement accessibility, usability, and responsive design best practices to enhance the quality and inclusivity of all digital materials.
Project management:
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently working with a project management platform (Hive), consistently meeting deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy through self-direction and as part of a team to complete projects.
  • Monitor project progress and communicate any issues/concerns to supervisor.
  • Review work with Department lead and university stakeholders/clients.
  • Coordination of both internal and external marketing projects.
  • Collaborate with content creators, photographers, and department colleagues to produce cohesive, visually consistent messaging across all platforms.
  • Collaborate with campus stakeholders to continually maintain Husson's brand identity and support the Marketing & Communications department in the continuous development and refining of Husson's brand identity.

Qualifications
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in visual communication/graphic design from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three years of professional graphic design experience, including digital content support, as evidenced in application materials.
  • Proficiency and working knowledge/experience in production, MacOS, and Adobe Creative Suite products (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, AfterEffects, Premiere Pro) and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with reflecting strong attention to detail in a deadline-driven environment using a project management system to track progress.
  • Experience working in a content management system and email marketing system.
  • Proven history of successful collaboration across teams and/or units as well as excellent customer service and collaboration skills - including responding quickly, diplomatically, thoughtfully, and creatively to feedback from clients, while keeping projects moving forward to completion.
