As a Web Designer, you'll help build intuitive, visually cohesive websites and interfaces that support critical communication across the intelligence enterprise. This role offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and the chance to grow your technical and creative skills while contributing to a meaningful mission.

FWI is seeking a detail-oriented Web Designer to support the DIA's Office of Corporate Engagement (OCE). In this role, you will support the development, maintenance, and updating of DIA internal websites, SharePoint sites, and digital interfaces. This position focuses on front-end design, accessibility, and content presentation while supporting OCC's broader mission of delivering accurate, consistent, and visually effective digital communication products.

FWI has been recognized as a Top Workplace by the Washington Post in 2024 and 2025, offering excellent growth opportunities in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

Assist with designing, developing, and updating internal websites and SharePoint pages to enhance accessibility, usability, and visual consistency. Produce and refine web layouts, graphical user interface (GUI) elements, and content modules using DIA-approved tools and software. Perform proofreading and quality control for web content to ensure accuracy and alignment with DIA standards. Collaborate with senior developers, visual information specialists, and communication teams to support new site builds, redesigns, and content deployment. Support development of prototypes and mock-ups for customer review; incorporate feedback and updates. Test pages for functional compatibility across DIA-supported browsers (Edge, Chrome, Firefox, etc.). Complete web change requests within specified timelines (typically 5 business days unless otherwise agreed). Provide responsive customer service, including acknowledgment of requests within one business day. Assist with Data Transfer/Removable Media responsibilities, including obtaining and maintaining Data Transfer Officer (DTO) authorization within 60 days of onboarding. Ensure all web products comply with DIA branding, security requirements, and accessibility standards (including Section 508).

Qualifications

Required:

Associate's degree in Web Design, Web Development, Digital Media, Computer Science, or related field (Bachelor's preferred). 1-2 years of experience supporting web design or front-end development projects. Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and modern web layout principles. Basic understanding of CMS and SharePoint environments. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, or similar tools). Strong visual design fundamentals-color theory, typography, layout, hierarchy. Ability to work effectively in a classified, customer-facing environment with tight deadlines.

Desired:

Experience developing prototypes or wireframes using design tools (XD, Figma, etc.). Prior experience supporting government or intelligence community digital content.
