Job description

Overview

QuarterLine (QL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physician Assistant to join the Occupational Medical Services healthcare team at Tinker Air Force Base, OK. The selected candidate will provide primary and specialty medical care in a DoD clinical environment, including patient evaluations, physical examinations, diagnostic planning, treatment implementation, referral coordination, emergency stabilization, and accurate medical record documentation in accordance with contract requirements, facility protocols, and applicable regulatory standards.

This role requires a dependable provider who can meet government qualifications, credentialing, security, and onboarding requirements, including current unrestricted Physician Assistant licensure, NCCPA certification, and eligibility to work under a personal services arrangement. The ideal candidate will bring recent Physician Assistant experience, strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and a commitment to supporting mission readiness and high-quality care for service members and eligible patient populations.

  • Duty Location: Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. No Telework allowed.
  • Duty Hours: Monday - Friday, 0700 - 1600.ย 
    • No Overage, No OT.
    • Not required to work Holidays.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities
  • Provides primary or specialty medical care with the cognizance or supervision of a physician.
  • Responsible for a regularly appointed clinic, compatible with workload and, in addition, provide immediate evaluation and management of emergent problems as they occur. Shall have the capability to:
  • Collect and record, in proper format, medical and social historical data appropriate to the patient's condition.
  • Perform a general physical examination.
  • May become the primary care manager for a panel of patients. As a PCM, will be the primary person responsible for the management of the health and wellness of assigned patients.
  • Duties include:
    • Examination of patients, formulation differential diagnostic plans, defines and orders required diagnostic testing.
    • Interpretation of examination findings and test results, and implementation of treatment plans.
    • Determines need for consultation and assists in medical care and treatment provided at the direction of other specialists.
    • Approving/disapproving subspecialty referrals.
    • Answering patient telephone consults with the assistance of clinic staff. k) Providing primary and secondary preventive maintenance care.
    • Recognize those more complicated cases, initiate treatment (if appropriate), and refer to a higher level of medical expertise for diagnosis and/or treatment.
    • Plan and initiate proper treatment within defined privileges and the scope of practice of the facility.
    • Identify and report those situations and individual cases which have public health significance and carry out effective control measures.
    • Clearly communicate to other health personnel either orally or in writing the findings, diagnosis, and planned treatment regimen.
    • Stabilize and manage a patient in a medical or surgical emergency and/or transfer to physician care.
    • Determine appropriate means of evacuation of emergency patients, prepare patients for evacuation, and arrange for evacuation support.
    • Perform the following blocks: Digital, Local Infiltration, and Intercostal
    • Perform urological procedures.
    • Maintain inpatient and outpatient medical records in accordance with MTF procedures.
Minimum Requirements
  • Degree/Education: Graduate of a Physician Assistant Training Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), or its predecessors, and acceptable to the Surgeon General, USAF, is mandatory.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of physician assistant experience within the past three (3) years.
  • Legal Authorization to Work in the United States: The contract worker performing under this contract must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Licensure: A current, valid, unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant in any one of the fifty States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • Certification(s):
    • Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Committee on Certification Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Web-based (on-line) classes are not acceptable by the Government.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a Department of Defense (DoD) or Military Treatment Facility (MTF) environment.
  • Experience in occupational medicine, primary care, or ambulatory care settings.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems and military healthcare operations.
Additional Information
  • Occupational Health: The contract worker shall be required to obtain documentation of required physical testing or a report of a physical examination.
  • Tuberculosis Screening: The Contractor ensure contract workers shall be screened for tuberculosis (TB).
  • Health Requirements. The Contractor shall provide documentation certifying health requirements such as immunizations, annual vaccinations, and physical examination when required at the time of initial placement.
  • Subject to a background and security investigation to include drug screening.
  • Employees shall maintain good personal hygiene and present a well-groomed and professional appearance IAW the policy at the place of performance.
