Job description

OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY
Fox TV Stations
FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network's national content.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Weather is the #1 reason viewers tune in, and in a Top 10 market, the stakes couldn't be higher. We are seeking a dynamic, science-driven Meteorologist to join our elite weather team.
This isn't just about reading a forecast; it's about owning the weather story across every platform-from breaking news on linear broadcast to high-energy streaming segments and viral social content. If you are a weather enthusiast who excels in "wall-to-wall" severe weather coverage and loves pushing the boundaries of graphic technology, we want to hear from you.
The Role: What You'll Do
You will be the voice of authority and a trusted guide for our viewers during calm skies and life-threatening storms alike.
  • Multi-Platform Expert: Prepare and present weather content for broadcast, digital, and social platforms, including a unique, creative approach for our 24/7 streaming channel.
  • Severe Weather Authority: Constantly monitor for significant weather events and provide extended, calm, and accurate ad-lib coverage when our viewers need it most.
  • Visual Storytelling: Master our state-of-the-art weather graphics systems to create stunning 3D animations, radar images, and data-driven visuals that make complex science easy to understand.
  • Digital Native: Collaborate with our Digital Content Creators to provide real-time updates for our website and mobile app, while maintaining an active, engaging presence on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and X.
  • Field Reporting: Step out from behind the green screen to produce and present live or pre-produced weather-related stories from the field.
  • Technical Consultant: Advise the News Director and News Operations Manager on the latest hardware and software upgrades to keep our station at the cutting edge of meteorology.

What You Bring to the Table
We are looking for a meteorologist who balances rigorous scientific analysis with "Big Market" personality.
  • On-Air Presence: Excellent performance skills with the ability to sustain long periods of unscripted coverage during breaking weather.
  • The "TV Sense": A keen understanding of what makes compelling television and how to incorporate visual elements effectively under deadline pressure.
  • Adaptability: A flexible schedule is a must-significant weather doesn't follow a 9-to-5, and neither do we.
  • Community Connection: A polite and effective communicator who enjoys making promotional appearances and engaging with the public both in person and online.
  • Linguistic Precision: High proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation for digital and on-air copy.

Education & Experience
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of broadcast television weather anchor experience is required.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Meteorology or a related atmospheric science from a four-year college or university is preferred.
  • Requirements: Valid driver's license and a willingness to work on-site for real-time collaboration with our production and digital teams.

Why Join Our Team?
You'll have access to advanced weather technology in the industry and a platform that reaches millions. We foster an environment of "operational agility," where your creative ideas for new presentation styles are not just welcomed-they are expected.
We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. We will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories consistent with applicable law.
Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $140,000.00-160,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
