Job description

Construction Inspector
CSEngineering is expanding our team and looking for an experienced Construction Inspector to support critical Air Force construction and infrastructure projects.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Familiar with and adhere to all instructions outlined in the 32 series Civil Engineer AFIs, Unified Facilities Criteria, and applicable building codes.
  • Work with Project Managers to ensure construction contractor compliance with approved plans and specifications for various construction contracts. Contracts may be for the construction or renovation of large, complex administrative office buildings, hospitals, aircraft maintenance and industrial facilities, or utility distribution systems.
  • Coordinate with construction contractor representatives concerning work scheduling, interpretation of plans and specifications, selection of work methods, and acceptability of materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Investigate and report on controversial situations that have either led to formal claims or are expected to lead to such claims by the construction contractor.
  • Coordinate with the contracting officer to correct construction contract deficiencies, unacceptable material, or work performed to ensure compliance with the contract requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate construction contract progress schedules, noting work progress, delays, or other problems that could interfere with construction, review the construction contractor's cost breakdowns, progress measurement data, reports of material and equipment used, and field inspection and survey reports to compute periodic payments and recommend approval/disapproval of contractor submittals and progress schedules.
  • Prepare various documents, reports, and correspondence, and maintain daily logs and safety reports addressing the progress of construction and the administration of the contract.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Associate's degree or certificate in building inspection technology, architecture, engineering, or construction management. Bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture is a plus.
  • Work Experience: 3 to 5 years of related experience in a construction trade (e.g., electrician, plumber, carpenter) or as a contractor.
  • Required Certifications & Licensing: 2021 or 2024 National Commercial Inspector certification from the International Code Council (ICC) under the B2 category OR possess a minimum of eight (8) years of experience as a commercial construction superintendent on public, private, and/or Federal projects.
  • Preferred Certifications & Licensing: 2021 or 2024 National Commercial Electrical Inspector, Commercial Mechanical Inspector, or Commercial Plumbing Inspector certification from the International Code Council (ICC) under the E2, M2, or P2 category is recommended.
  • The American Concrete Institute (ACI) and the American Welding Society (AWS) is recommended
    Core Competencies:
  • Technical: A deep understanding of building codes, zoning ordinances, blueprint reading, material safety standards, the 32 series Civil Engineer AFIs, and Unified Facilities Criteria.
  • Problem-Solving:Strong quality control and analytical skills to spot structural or code violations.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal skills to articulate code violations and generate daily inspection reports.
  • Documentation: Capacity to write detailed reports, manage contracts, and maintain accurate records.
  • Environmental/Safety:Familiarity with site pollution prevention and erosion control regulations.
  • Physical & Environmental: Ability to navigate rough terrain, climb ladders, and maneuver in tight, confined spaces under various weather conditions.
  • Licenses: A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are mandatory for traveling between job sites
