Overview of BLOC:

We are an inner-city ministry that lives and works in the neighborhoods we serve. Our mission exists to build relationships with our neighbors and share hope in brokenness. We target neighborhoods that are underserved. We have a staff size of about 90 where we have after school programs, a sports performance center, houses for women in sex trafficking, men and women transitional homes, a coffee shop, teaching kitchens, equine assisted learning, an immigrant welcome center, and other forms of ministry to love our neighbors.


Position Summary

EPOH Respite (Support) Staff provide daily supervision, structure, transportation, and relational support for students living in the EPOH home. This is ademanding, hands-on role that requires emotional maturity, strong boundaries, and a deep commitment to teamwork and biblical values.

This position is not a parental role. Support Staff work under the direction of Residential Staff and are expected to follow established systems, rules, and care plans.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise students during mornings, evenings, and after school
  • Manage downtime and support students who lose outing privileges
  • Provide transportation to:
    • School (morning and afternoon)
    • Practices, programs, sports, clubs, and approved outings
  • Stay home with students when Residential Staff attend meetings
  • Assist with homework and daily routines
  • Help maintain a clean and structured home environment:
    • Monitor student chores (laundry, rooms, bathrooms, dishes, cleaning)
    • Care for shared first-floor common areas
  • Prepare meals as needed, especially when Residential Staff are away
  • Participate in BLOC and other programs (minimum 6 times) to understand expectations
  • Occasionally attend student events to provide support and encouragement


Administrative & Training Duties

  • Complete all required and mandatory training
  • Learn household rules and procedures
  • Assist with basic administration:
    • Meetings, binders, documentation, RTIS support
    • Recording appliance temperatures (fridge, freezer, dishwasher)
  • Administer medications as trained and authorized
  • Submit a daily written debrief to Residential Staff summarizing:
    • Student behavior
    • Conversations
    • Concerns or incidents


1st shift would be 7 am to 3 pm

2nd shift would be 3pm- 11 pm

3rd shift would be 11 pm to 7 pm

Weekends would be 7 am to 7pm and 7 pm to 7 am
