Job description

San Diego Wave Camps FC is hiring an Assistant Site Director (Health & Safety Lead) for our summer youth soccer camps.

This role is perfect for candidates pursuing careers in medicine, nursing, athletic training, or healthcare, offering hands-on experience managing real-time camper health and safety in an active outdoor environment.

Youll serve as the primary on-site health lead, supporting both campers and staff while gaining valuable field experience.

Core Responsibilities (Health & Safety + Operations):
  • Ensure a safe camp environment for all staff, campers, and parents
  • Administer first aid care to campers and staff as needed
  • Manage medications for campers with life-threatening allergies and medical needs (e.g., EpiPens)
  • Communicate clearly with parents and headquarters regarding injuries, illnesses, and incidents
  • Maintain detailed health records and manage first aid supply inventory

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience working with children ages 413
  • Experience coaching and/or playing soccer or another sport at a high school level or higher
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required
  • EMT licensure (San Diego County accredited) preferred but not required
  • Interest in gaining experience in the healthcare or medical field
  • Ability to connect with children both one-on-one and in group settings
  • Strong character, integrity, and positive attitude
  • Dependable, reliable, and accountable
Ideal Background:
  • Experience in youth camps, schools, or sports programs
  • Interest in sports medicine, pre-med, nursing, kinesiology, or education
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to stay calm and act quickly in high-pressure situations
Location Coverage & Compensation:
  • 6-week summer commitment: June 22 July 31, 2026
  • MondayFriday, approximately 8 hours per day
  • Ability to travel to camp locations including:
    • Eastlake (Salt Creek Soccer Arena) June 29July 3
    • La Costa (San Dieguito Sports Complex) July 610
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Must pass a comprehensive background screening
  • $23.50/hour
