Job description

Become a part of a dynamic team producing mission critical components for sectors such as aerospace, defense, power generation, alternative energy, amusement, and custom equipment.


As a Waterjet Machinist, the successful candidate will set up and operate 3 axis and 5 axis waterjet machines to produce precision parts. On the job training, classroom training, and support from team members and top management will ensure a candidate has a defined path to success.


Job Requirements:

  • Strong desire to be a contributor within a growing company and make a positive impact

  • Ability to follow Mainstream's Primary Operating Procedures and work instructions
  • Work as part of a team as well as independently when needed
  • Load material onto waterjet machines using overhead crane, lift magnets, vacuum lift, plate clamps, etc.
  • Ability to interpret basic blueprints
  • Medium to strong math skills
  • Basic usage of computers
  • Label parts with appropriate information (part number, material type, heat / lot number, etc.)
  • Maintain traceability of heat, lot, and material identification information throughout production process
  • Ability to do in process inspections using basic inspection tools such as calipers, tape measures, etc.
  • Perform daily basic machine maintenance tasks
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area
  • Complete job related information on travelers
  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds
  • Practice FOD (Foreign Object Debris) prevention
  • Practice Counterfeit Parts awareness
  • Be willing to cross train into other departments and opportunities


Entry Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GEC
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Ability to use basic inspection equipment
  • Ability to obtain a forklift operator's license (onsite training for this)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Organization and time management skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software
  • Prior machining experience (waterjets, laser, plasma cutters, mills, lathes, etc)
  • Experience with OMAX waterjet machines or software
  • Knowledge of different materials (Nickel alloys, stainless steels, aluminum, composites, plastics, etc.)
  • Experience following Standard Operating Procedures
