Job description

The Opportunity:

Tech2 Solutions (T2S) is a critical subcontractor on the N3B Los Alamos LLC team and will be providing program management and technical services in support of the ground & surface water monitoring program at the U.S. Department of Energy's Los Alamos National Laboratory. T2S is a full-service engineering and environmental consulting company with a worldwide reach in the areas of environmental monitoring and remediation, national security, systems engineering, data management and analytics for both federal and commercial customers.

T2S, under the N3B Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract (LLCC), is currently adding an Environmental Professional (Surface Water Monitoring Team) to support stormwater and site-specific control measure monitoring as required by the LANL NPDES Storm Water Individual Permit - NM0030759. The Permit contains nonnumeric technology based effluent limitations, coupled with a comprehensive, coordinated inspection and monitoring program, to minimize pollutants in storm water discharges associated with historical industrial activities at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).  Additional responsibilities will include sampling and monitoring of a MSGP program. 

The Environmental Professional will provide field oversite to meet NPDES Permit and MSGP regulatory requirements and completion of field work activities. Field work may include collection of stormwater samples and completion of sample paperwork; installation and maintenance of sampling equipment; stormwater control and best management practices installations, inspections and maintenance; site inspections and documentation including completion of required electronic forms and data entry; and coordination with project staff and supporting T2S subcontractors.

The Environmental Professional will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner; will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety and security an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to pause or stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.

Your Role:

Participation and field oversite of T2S subcontractors in:

  • Completion of Permit required site inspections including significant event inspections, post-storm rain event inspections, and long-term stewardship inspections
  • Operation and maintenance of automated stormwater samplers including routine inspections, sample collection, and troubleshooting equipment. Completion and submittal of required electronic sample collection and inspection forms. Maintain quality control throughout process.
  • Stormwater corrective action control development, inspection, installation and minor maintenance with the use of hand tools. Completion and submittal of required electronic inspection forms.
  • Completion of field work, including site inspections and construction verifications and/or documenting work completed.
  • Site evaluations for run-on /run-off concerns and appropriate Best Management Practices (BMPs).
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain discipline knowledge
  • Work safely at all times and report health and safety incidents or concerns
  • Perform additional duties as required

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Ability to coordinate with, and willingness to take direction from project leads as required.
  • Support the project with requesting site access, data entry, and report preparation, as needed.
  • Field coordination with other N3B and LANL projects.
  • Provide occasional audits (field and electronic submittals) of subcontractors.
  • Comply with all health & safety policies and practices.
  • Other duties in support of the Water Program as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, or higher, in engineering, science, hydrology or related technical discipline, or equivalent with 2 years related experience; however, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the position's duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable.
  • Working knowledge of and experience with federal and state legislation pertaining to the Clean Water Act.
  • Working knowledge of maps, GPS units and GPS software.
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal communication skills; teamwork; and the ability to work with projects and personnel across the institution.
  • Ability to analyze and recommend innovative solutions and approaches for new and improved processes and controls.
  • Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented project environment.
  • Experience in sediment and erosion control with certification as an inspector is required or the ability to obtain upon hire. Certified Inspector/Professional in Sediment and Erosion Control is preferred.
  • Required knowledge of stormwater best management practices (BMPs) installation and use.
  • Familiarity with the LANL site and work environment preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
  • Must be a U.S Citizen.

Compensation:

Pay commensurate with experience.

Pay Range: $75,000 - $85,000 annually

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
