Job description

Overview

This is a "Supervisor in Training" position intended as an interim role. Employee will be responsible for supporting production activities across multiple departments (furnace, casting/refining, breaker, etc). Employee will be expected to complete Production Supervisor training (on demand) and classroom training (some overnight travel may be required). Employee will rotate to assist all Departments and Supervisors with processes, operations, timekeeping, disciplinary process, and related matters. Position will report to the Operations Manager, with additional direction and training provided by the Plant Manager and Area Managers.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and conduct Toolbox Meetings with hourly employees daily
  • Complete shift paperwork daily, to include Safety, Quality, and Productivity as well as work area logs
  • Ensure that hourly employees follow Standardized Work and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Accountable for all department equipment, including mobile equipment
  • Ensure that daily checks are completed and documented
Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS:Required

  • Current experience in manufacturing
  • Able to read, write, and speak English.

Preferred

  • High school diploma
  • Experience working in a union manufacturing plant
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Six Sigma or Lean training and/or certification.
  • Knowledge and experience of problem-solving and quality improvement methodologies.
  • UKG or other timekeeping systems
  • Heavy equipment experience.

  • Regularly work in a dirty, lead-contaminated area and must wear a uniform and safety shoes in that area to prevent the tracking and/or possible lead contamination of other clean areas or outside the regulated areas.
