This non-exemptย positionย is responsible forย performing a variety of semi-skilled and manual work involved in the maintenance, installation, and repair of theย Districtโsย water distribution andย wellย waterย systems.ย
Supervision Receivedย
Works under theย oversightย of theย Waterย and Distribution Lead Operator and under the general supervision of theย Waterย and Distribution Supervisor.ย ย
Primary Duties and Responsibilitiesย
Conducts specialized corrective and preventative maintenance,ย inspectionย and repairย tasks on District-owned infrastructure.ย This includesย any and allย appurtenancesย related to a potable water distribution systemย (valves, pumps, hydrants,ย storage tanks etc.)ย ย Are required to flush systemย as neededย using hydrants and blow off valves toย control water quality.ย The position isย also responsibleย forย maintainingย and operatingย ground waterย wellย systemsย includingย treatmentย filtrationย plantsย and associated equipment.ย ย Ensures compliance with all Federal and State water quality regulations and permits.ย ย
Inspects equipment and makes recommendations to the Water Plant Supervisorย regardingย necessary repairs,ย maintenanceย and calibration.ย Collaboratesย with the Districtโs maintenance department on the upkeep and replacement of equipment. Makes recommendations on the replacement schedule orย type of equipment.ย
Routinely performs physical cleanup and housekeeping of work areas, equipment, and buildings using standard cleaning equipment and material, and chemical cleaning procedures.ย
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilitiesย
Ability to accurately compile, analyze, and interpret facts to prepare reports, to troubleshoot, to make decisions, and to solve problemsย onย process and equipment.ย
Ability to read and interpret documents such as Safety Data Sheets, safety rules,ย operatingย and maintenanceย instructions,ย procedure manuals, blueprints, and technical documentation.ย
Experience / Certification Requirementsย
Class D Water Treatmentย OR Class 1 Distribution Systemย certification required at time of hire.ย Must obtain either a Class D Water Treatment or Class 1 Distribution System certification within 12 months of hire if not already certified in both Water Treatment and Distribution System.ย
At least 6 months of experience in either water treatment or distribution systemย operations.
Must have, or be able to obtain within one year, a valid Colorado Classย Cย CDL with Hazmat and tanker endorsement and removal of airbrake restriction.ย ย Must have a Motor Vehicle Record within the Acceptable or no less than Borderline rating according to the Vehicle Policy.ย
Working Conditions/Physical Activitiesย
Works in aย buildingย where elevated levels of noise, noise, irritants, dust, dirt, bacteria, hazardous chemicals/air/materialsย and fumes are always present.ย ย ย
Work may take place outside in all weather conditions.ย ย May be exposed to risks typically associated with working around water, chemicals,ย electricityย and otherย man-madeย and natural hazards.ย ย ย
Full range of body movements including stooping, twisting, kneeling, bending, leaning, reaching, climbing (heights),ย stretchingย and working in awkward positions.ย
Vision is needed for driving, reading,ย recordingย and interpreting information; speech and hearing are used to communicate with other employees over the telephone, two-wayย radioย and in person.ย

The hiring range for this position is $29.65-$46.13 per hour.ย Actual compensation will be dependent upon experience and certification levels listed below.ย
None/D Water Treatment/1 Distribution:ย $29.65-$34.88 per hourย
C Water Treatment/2 Distribution:ย $32.02-$37.67 per hourย
B or A Water Treatment/3 or 4 Distribution:ย $39.21-$46.13 per hourย
