About the Position

The WatchGuard accounting team is primarily based in Seattle, WA with numerous accountants around the world supporting international operations.

This position reports to the Corporate Controller and is responsible for various aspects of the general ledger as assigned.  Areas of responsibility include assuring company compliance with generally accepted accounting principles; development, improvement of and compliance with company policies and procedures; and management of the monthly closing process and financial reporting.

Position Responsibilities

  • Assist in month-end closing of the general ledger, including preparation and recording of journal entries, preparation and review of balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Ensure that estimates, accruals, prepayments, reserves and provisions are calculated and supported with appropriate basis or backup, in accordance with US GAAP
  • Review trial balance and financial statements for completeness and accuracy
  • Ownership of fixed assets accounting for the company
  • Research accounting guidance and provide recommendation on accounting treatment and application
  • Update consolidated general ledger for transactions in overseas operations
  • Review financial reports produced by international bookkeepers and assist in reclaiming VAT, GST, etc.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA & public accounting experience preferred
  • Work history should include 3+ years in position(s) with equivalent responsibilities and experience 
  • Position requires a strong general accounting background, experience with month-end close and knowledge of US GAAP
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Individual must be team-oriented self-starter with good problem-solving skills and ability to interact positively and successfully with all levels of the company
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
Compensation
The base salary range is $90,000-$110,000 per year for full-time employment, exclusive of benefits. Your base salary will be determined by your individual skills, education, and experience. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical in order to allow for future salary growth.
