Summary

Play an important role in protecting the environment and supporting safe, efficient operations as an Agribusiness Wastewater Operator. In this hands-on position, you will operate and maintain wastewater treatment systems, potable wells, irrigation, and storm water systems while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. You will monitor equipment performance, perform preventive maintenance and laboratory testing, complete environmental inspections, and help maintain accurate operational records. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy technical problem solving, working in a fast-paced environment, and making a direct impact on environmental compliance, operational reliability, and workplace safety.

This position has a target wage of $21.00 - $31.50 per hour, based on shift, experience and qualifications with annual bonus available (variable depending on performance). Overtime may be available.

In addition to hourly wages, Perdue offers a competitive benefits package, including medical/Rx, 401(k) with employer match after 1 year, critical illness, accident insurance, dental, vision, life insurance, optional group life insurance, short-term and long-term disability protection, flexible spending accounts and paid time off.

Schedule: 12 hour shift TBD, 2-2-3-2-2-3 rotation.

Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate the Wastewater Facility, Potable Wells, Irrigation, and Storm Water System within local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Attain a State Wastewater Class 5-I License as required by MDE.
  • Perform necessary calculations for process control, chemical feed, and nutrient loadings.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on assigned wastewater equipment.
  • Perform laboratory analysis on wastewater samples and adjust plant and chemical flow rates as required to ensure water quality compliance.
  • Complete and maintain records related to wastewater operations.
  • Collect NPDES samples.
  • Ensure all daily, weekly, and monthly emissions observations are completed.
  • Complete weekly Environmental Garage inventory and housekeeping inspections.
  • Complete monthly spill kit inspections.
  • Perform all work within safety guidelines established by local, state, and federal agencies as well as company policies.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Ability to attain a State 5-I (Industrial) Wastewater License.
  • Temporary licenses will be attained within the first 90 days of employment, and the requirements of the temporary license are - 45 Class hours and sit in for State Testing within 3 years of Temporary License issuance.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Advanced technical training.
  • State wastewater license.
  • Smoke School certification.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a mechanical, production, or related field.

 

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

  • Ability to move freely throughout the facility, including climbing vertical heights (0-50').
  • Ability to carry tools and equipment (0-50 pounds).
  • Exposure to all weather conditions, extreme temperatures (0-100F), humidity (0-100%), noise (50db-100db), and chemicals (MSDS sheets available).
  • Ability to wear protective equipment, including a self-contained breathing apparatus.
