Job description

Position Summary
The Sales Manager for the Raleigh Hauling Division is responsible for leading and developing a team of commercial sales representatives focused on growing Frontload, Permanent Roll-off, Temporary Roll-off, and Portable Sanitation in the Raleigh-Durham market. This role is accountable for driving new business revenue, increasing market share, retaining key accounts, and executing strategic sales initiatives that support divisional growth objectives.
The Sales Manager will work closely with operations, customer service, dispatch, and senior leadership to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction while maintaining a strong focus on profitability, employee development, and market expansion.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and manage a team of outside sales representatives to achieve monthly and annual revenue goals.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to increase market share within the Raleigh-Durham region.
  • Conduct regular ride-alongs, pipeline reviews, performance evaluations, and sales training sessions.
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop high-performing sales talent.
  • Monitor sales metrics, KPIs, activity levels, and forecasting to ensure accountability and consistent performance.
  • Identify and pursue large commercial, industrial, municipal, construction, and multi-location account opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, property managers, developers, and business owners.
  • Collaborate with operations and customer service teams to ensure smooth implementation and retention of new accounts.
  • Assist with pricing strategy, contract negotiations, and proposal development.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities.
  • Ensure CRM accuracy and proper documentation of sales activities, opportunities, and customer interactions.
  • Participate in networking events, trade associations, and community outreach efforts to enhance company visibility.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of waste industry regulations, service offerings, and operational capabilities.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of sales experience, preferably in waste management, transportation, environmental services, logistics, construction services, or related industries.
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership or sales management experience.
  • Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales goals and growing market share.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Experience managing pipelines, forecasting, and CRM systems.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to analyze financial and operational data to support business decisions.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Waste industry experience with front-load, roll-off, recycling, and compactor services.
  • Existing relationships within the Raleigh-Durham commercial business community.
  • Experience with commercial business and construction-related sales opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of route-based service operations and pricing strategies.
