This is a meaningful opportunity to practice pharmacy in a structured, mission-driven environment, working an 8 hour shift schedule at 24 hours per week alongside a dedicated team of health professionals.

  • U.S. citizenship

  • Working knowledge of federal and state pharmacy laws, regulations, and controlled-substance handling requirements

  • Proficiency in reviewing and verifying medication orders, dosing, drug interactions, and therapeutic appropriateness

  • Prior experience in institutional, hospital, or correctional pharmacy preferred

  • Strong clinical, communication, and pharmacy information system skills

  • Ability to work effectively within a secure correctional environment and adhere to institutional security protocols

  • Ability to pass a background investigation, drug screening, and required health screenings

Responsibilities

  • Review, interpret, and verify medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, dosing, and potential drug interactions

  • Accurately dispense and label prescription medications in compliance with federal and state pharmacy regulations

  • Provide medication counseling and drug information to patients and to health services staff

  • Monitor patient drug therapy for effectiveness, adverse reactions, and adherence, making clinical recommendations as needed

  • Maintain accurate records of controlled substances and ensure secure storage, inventory, and accountability

  • Manage pharmacy inventory, ordering, and stock rotation to prevent shortages and minimize waste

  • Support formulary management and participate in pharmacy and therapeutics committee activities

  • Collaborate with physicians, mid-level providers, and nursing staff as part of the interdisciplinary health care team

  • Ensure compliance with Federal Bureau of Prisons policies, accreditation standards, and applicable pharmacy laws

  • Adhere to all institutional security procedures while performing pharmaceutical duties within the correctional setting

  • Participate in quality improvement, medication safety, and infection-control initiatives
