Job Profile

The bank is looking for a Small Business Loan Specialist who will support the Small Business Express loans and SBA loans.

Responsible for ensuring Small Business Express loans from our branches are processed, closed, and QC accurately.

Additionally, for SBA loans, provide consistent communication with SBA, fulfilment of SBA requests, and coordination with teammates to meet these needs. The responsibilities include tasks within multiple workflows and systems, including the maintenance of operational controls that satisfy all Company Policy, procedures, and regulations.

Education Level
  • High School Diploma, on-the-job training, and ongoing education
Work Experience
  • 1-3+ years of experience in commercial or consumer loan processing, closing, or underwriting; banking or financial services.
  • Experience working with loan documentation systems and workflow tools is also valuable.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Adhere to and ensure adherence to bank policies and procedures designed to comply with Federal regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and OFAC regulations.
  • Avoid all real or perceived conflicts of interest and always maintain client privacy and confidentiality.
  • Complete and pass all assigned eLearning courses and certifications as required.
  • Ongoing education: Stay current with industry trends, SBA regulations, and bond lending best practices through continuous education, training, and professional development opportunities as provided by the department and bank.
  • Problem Resolution: Handle complex quality control issues and situations, providing solutions that align with policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Process Updates: Promptly review changes in policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure processes are being completed accurately.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Follow established processes and standards to comply with relevant regulations and company policies.
  • Resource Expertise: Serve as a key resource for teammates and other departments, providing guidance and information on small business and SBA lending.
  • SBA Origination and Servicing: Accurately execute maintenance of loan files, including documentation and record-keeping, following regulations and organizational standards.
  • Small Business Express Processing and Support: Process, document, close, and provide quality control assistance on our Small Business Express product that is generated by our Business Banking branches
  • Timely Processing: Oversee the efficient and accurate processing of small business and SBA requisitions and related tasks.
  • To that end, ensure timely and accurate preparation of Currency Transaction Reports, Suspicious Activity Reports, and other recordkeeping requirements.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple loans and processes at once
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, especially for coordinating between SBA, internal teams, and possibly clients
  • Knowledge of bank policies, regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Proficiency with systems like LOS (Loan Origination Systems), and general office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Understanding of loan documentation, funding, closing, and quality control
