Job Description

Job title: Senior Manager, WASH Services (Asia Regional Focus)

Location: CAWST is based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This is not a remote position, and you must be able to work on location in our Calgary office.

Employment type: Full-time, permanent

Reports to: Senior Director, Global Services

Travel requirements: This position will require international travel of minimum 7 weeks per year.

Eligibility: Preference will be given to candidates with valid Canadian work authorization. If you are not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, please provide specifics of your Canadian work eligibility in your cover letter.

Recruiting timeline: First round interviews will begin the week of September 14th, 2026. However, the position will remain open to applications until filled.

Position Summary

The Senior Manager, WASH Services Asia is a strategic leadership role responsible for advancing CAWST's mission and impact throughout Asia. This position provides leadership for the regional strategy, service delivery, business development, and partner engagement, ensuring CAWST's services effectively strengthen the capacity of local organizations to deliver sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) solutions.

As the leader of CAWST's Asia team, the Senior Manager is accountable for achieving regional goals by developing a high-performing team, building strong client and partner relationships, and successfully implementing annual work plans. The role is also responsible for expanding and supporting our Training Partner network, fostering collaboration with key stakeholders, and identifying opportunities to scale impact across the region.

As a member of the Global Services Leadership Team, the Senior Manager collaborates across regions and business units to share learning, advance organizational priorities, and contribute to strategic initiatives that enhance CAWST's effectiveness and global reach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regional Strategy & Impact: Develop and execute a regional strategy aligned with CAWST's organizational vision and strategic priorities. Monitor regional trends, opportunities, and challenges to identify new approaches that strengthen CAWST's impact, expand its reach, and support sustainable WASH outcomes across Asia.

  • Team Leadership & Development: Provide leadership, coaching, and oversight to the Asia WASH Services team. Foster a high-performing, collaborative culture by supporting staff development, recruitment, performance management, succession planning, and continuous learning to ensure excellence in service delivery.

  • Regional Service Delivery & Program Quality: Oversee the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of WASH training, consulting, mentoring, and technical support services delivered throughout the region. Ensure services are relevant, client-centered, high quality, and adapted to local contexts while achieving regional performance and impact objectives.

  • Training Partners: Strategically lead CAWST's engagement with current Training Partners. Strengthen partner capacity to independently deliver training, consulting, mentoring, and capacity development services while identifying opportunities to expand and deepen regional partnerships.

  • Regional Collaboration & Strategic Relationships: Represent CAWST in regional networks, sector forums, and strategic partnerships. Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, NGOs, academic institutions, funders, and sector leaders to strengthen collaboration, elevate CAWST's reputation, and identify opportunities for greater collective impact. 

  • Monitoring, Learning & Evidence-Based Decision Making: Champion the collection and use of data to measure reach, effectiveness, and impact. Support regional monitoring, evaluation, learning, and research activities, ensuring insights are used to improve programming, inform decision-making, and contribute to organizational learning.

  • Strategic Collaboration: Act as a key contributor to CAWST's Global Services Leadership Team by collaborating across regions and business units to share best practices, address organizational challenges, leverage expertise, and advance cross-functional initiatives that strengthen CAWST's global impact and effectiveness.

Any and all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Director, Global Services.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in engineering, sciences, public health or other relevant discipline

  • 10+ years of experience implementing Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene programs, with experience delivering training and capacity development services.  Experience in a consulting or advisory role is an asset.

  • 3 + years of team management experience

  • Canadian Professional Engineering designation is an asset

Languages

  • Fluency or proficiency in French, Spanish, Arabic or any local languages in the region is an asset.
