Community of Salt Lake City, Utah:

Salt Lake City, Utah, sits in a mountain bowl 4,300 feet up, with immediate access to all forms of adventure: four world-class ski resorts 45 minutes from Salt Lake International Airport (with 10 more outside city limits); a lineup of slanty canyons to the east with a hundred options for hiking, biking, climbing, boating… Salt Lake City is the cultural and political center of Utah. With a metro area of 1 million residents, Salt Lake is Utah's most populous city by a significant amount, yet it remains remarkably pleasant and livable. It offers a wealth of cultural attractions, numerous parks, and some inspiring architectural structures. Salt Lake City sits very attractively in a valley beneath the Wasatch Mountains. The mountains offer a stunning backdrop and a range of excellent recreational opportunities. In winter, piles of dry snow smother the Wasatch, providing excellent downhill skiing at seven large resorts within 45 minutes of downtown, including Alta, Solitude, Snowbird, and Brighton. In the summer, there are excellent opportunities for hiking and mountain biking. Wasatch’s Little and Big Cottonwood Canyons are known for their rock climbing spots. Head a little farther north to the delightful water and amusement park, Lagoon, to cool off after a day of exercise.
