Job description

Description Please note *This is a temporary position anticipated to last from June 20th through September 26th, 2026.* GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK: This position oversees the day-to-day operations of the Warren County Farmers Market and reports to the County Extension Director. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS: Open, close and operate the Farmers Market each Saturday; maintain detailed records of vendor, revenues and customer accounts. Plan and prepare for operation of the Farmers Market

Required hours are Saturdays, 6:30am-2pm. Typical weekday hours are 4 hours per day, two days per week. (These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed.

The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.) Plan and facilitate Farmers Market Advisory committee meetings Search for, initiate and gather necessary documentation to acquire available grants and sponsors Develop and implement marketing strategies Supports coordination with the Visit NC Farms Mobile App administrator Coordinate training opportunities for vendors, i.e. food safety, vendor presentations, etc. Fiscal management of farmers market budget and vendor booths Enforce farmers market rules and regulations and address issues with the public as they arise Facility management Performs related tasks as required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of farming practices or related field; 2 or more years' experience with customer service; strong computer literacy, oral and written communication skills; ability to plan, implement, market, manage and evaluate programs and market facilities. Promotional experience is preferred. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school with a preferred two-year degree or higher in Agriculture Marketing or related discipline.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work outside in all weather conditions including heat, sun exposure, wind and rain. This is active work requiring the exertion of up to 25 pounds of force frequently and a negligible amount of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires reaching, fingering, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to adverse environmental conditions. Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment, including computer, hand tools, etc.
