What are 'warm bodies' in the context of employment?

In the context of employment, 'warm body' is an informal term used to describe a person who is hired primarily to fill a position with minimal qualifications or skills required. This term is often used in industries or roles experiencing high turnover or urgent staffing needs, such as event staffing, warehouse work, or entry-level labor positions. While it can be a stepping stone for job seekers, the term sometimes carries a negative connotation, implying that the person is valued more for their physical presence than their expertise.
