Job Title: IT PM Business Process Consultant - Finance & Procurement - Mid Level - (5-10 years exp only)
Contract Role: 6+ Months Contract
Location: Hybrid - Chicago North Suburbs (Preference is for a local candidate who can be onsite as needed in Chicago's northern suburbs)

Position Summary
Looking for an IT PM - Business Process Consultant - Finance & Procurement Solutions Consultant who combines deep functional expertise with a strong understanding of business operations.

This individual will partner with business leaders to own, manage, and continuously improve solutions within the ERP Finance & Supply Chain Management, or D365 F&SCM - Experince as a PM with Finance and Supply Chain exprince are the required skills, candiates will have expeirnce in IT with ERP's as well having heavy interaction with business stakeholders.

We are seeking a Business Process Consultant to support our client's Finance and Procurement functions as the organization builds and transforms its business through new systems and integrations. The key to this role is serving as a liaison and subject matter expert with deep knowledge across Finance, Procurement, and Supply Chain.

The ideal candidate understands not only the technology, but also how business processes operate across finance, procurement, supply chain, inventory, warehousing, project operations, and construction-related workflows.

This person must be able to operate as an independent consultant and trusted advisor, providing objective recommendations while partnering closely with business leaders, technology teams, and external implementation partners.

Experience within the HVAC, plumbing, mechanical contracting, or construction management industry is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand operational challenges and translate them into scalable D365 solutions.
  • Own and manage the design, configurations, and optimizations of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management.
  • Serve as a primary functional liaison across Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, IT, and external implementation partners.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, Inventory, Warehousing, and Project Operations.
  • Analyze current business processes and recommend best practices that improve efficiency, accuracy, automation, and system adoption.
  • Configure and support Procurement and Sourcing capabilities, including vendor management, purchasing, approvals, and contract processes.
  • Collaborate with finance, operations, warehouse, purchasing, and project management teams to ensure system capabilities align with business requirements.
  • Validate financial and operational data across D365 and integrated systems to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reporting integrity.
  • Support financial and operational reporting requirements by ensuring D365 data, processes, and integrations enable reliable analytics and informed business decision-making.
  • Support integrations with third-party applications and other Microsoft technologies.
  • Create functional specifications and work closely with technical developers to deliver system enhancements and integrations.
  • Lead user acceptance testing, training, change management, and user adoption activities.
  • Investigate functional and process issues, identify root causes, and recommend sustainable system, data, or workflow improvements.
  • Troubleshoot functional issues and provide ongoing support following implementation.
  • Support implementation stabilization, issue resolution, user adoption, and continuous improvement following system and integration releases.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor for future business process improvements, system enhancements, and technology initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of functional experience in IT with ERP - Finance & Supply Chain Management.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and operate as a trusted functional consultant.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the HVAC, plumbing, mechanical contracting, or construction management industry.
  • Knowledge of project-based operations, job costing, field service, and materials management.
  • Experience with Power Platform, Power BI, and Microsoft Azure integrations.
  • Experience working across D365 and connected financial, CRM, reporting, or third-party systems.
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 certifications are a plus.
  • Experience working with implementation partners and managing ERP projects.
  • Experience supporting system implementation, stabilization, training, change management, and post-launch optimization.
