Overview

The Director, Strategic Retail Accounts Technology, is the lead technology executive responsible for building and managing Garan’s strategic partnership with Walmart. This role drives value by developing deep expertise in Walmart’s technology ecosystem and leveraging it to advance Garan’s digital and AI capabilities. The Director works together with both Walmart and internal technology teams to integrate systems, deliver joint solutions, and manage the shared technology roadmap. As the primary business liaison, this leader influences strategy, drives efficiency, and unlocks growth through data and technology innovation in partnership with Walmart and other key accounts. Candidates with prior experience at Walmart or in major consulting firms are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Walmart Technology Expertise & Integration Leadership

  • Develop and maintain deep, specialized knowledge of Walmart’s technology platforms, integration patterns, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Serve as Garan’s resident expert on Walmart’s Enterprise Application Integration (EAI), EDI, cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP), and AI/automation frameworks.
  • Lead the design and execution of integration solutions that align with Walmart’s technical standards and operational requirements.

Strategic Partnership & Solution Delivery

  • Act as the primary technology representative and trusted advisor to Walmart’s Technology Team, ensuring alignment with Garan’s business and innovation goals.
  • Collaborate closely with Walmart and internal tech teams to co-develop, test, and deploy scalable digital, data, and AI-powered solutions.
  • Oversee end-to-end delivery of integration projects, ensuring quality, compliance, and timely execution.

Roadmap & Innovation Enablement

  • Co-create and manage a joint technology integration roadmap focused on AI, automation, data analytics, and process optimization.
  • Identify and pilot new opportunities that leverage Walmart’s agentic AI, supply chain intelligence, and retail platforms to unlock growth.

Business Influence & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between business and technology, translating strategic goals into actionable integration initiatives.
  • Influence business leaders to adopt technology-driven improvements, ensuring widespread adoption and a measurable impact.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years in technology leadership, integration, or strategic account roles.
  • Proven experience with Walmart’s technology systems (EDI, EAI, cloud, AI) or in a major consulting firm serving large retail clients.
  • Strong understanding of integration patterns, CI/CD, cloud platforms, and enterprise data flows.
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and delivering complex integration projects.
