About the Role 

JourneyTeam is in a period of rapid evolution as we shift toward AI-enabled delivery, outcome-based services, and more scalable revenue models. This transition requires a Vice President of Finance who can guide not only financial performance, but also how the business operates to support growth while staying grounded in our values. 

In this role, the Vice President of Finance will: 

  • Partner with the CEO to evaluate strategic opportunities and business tradeoffs. 
  • Align financial strategy with company values, vision, and operational realities. 
  • Work with the leadership team to drive revenue, operational efficiency, and other strategic initiatives. 
  • Drive clarity, accountability, and sound decision-making across the organization. 
  • Mentor and develop the Finance and Accounting team. 

This is a highly visible role for a leader who can operate effectively at both the executive level and in operational details. 

Key Responsibilities 
  • Own all aspects of financial management, reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow. 
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for finance-related matters across the organization, including executive leadership. 
  • Oversee all financial operations for JourneyTeam, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and strong fiscal stewardship. 
  • Help set the vision, strategy, and roadmap for JourneyTeam's growth and efficiency. 
  • Provide clear, data-driven perspectives and risk assessments to translate vision into practical financial and operational plans. 
  • Establish a culture of financial accountability and ROI-driven decision-making. 
  • Hold leaders accountable for forecast accuracy, gross margin, operational efficiency, and operating margin. 
  • Drive financial clarity and alignment across departments. 
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition for professional services and recurring revenue streams. 
  • Maintain strong financial discipline across invoicing, credits, expenses, payroll, compensation plans, and other financial operations. 
  • Mentor and teach accounting principles and financial skills to the Finance and Accounting team. 
  • Lead by example while living our core values. 
  • Work with the CRO and CMO to define and enforce pricing and compensation strategies that drive healthy revenue growth. 
  • Identify and eliminate sales agreements that lead to poor financial performance. 
  • Work with the COO to define and enforce margin expectations and operational outcomes, ensuring strong alignment between delivery results and financial performance. 
  • Build actionable dashboards and KPIs that drive performance, including utilization, revenue per employee, gross margin, and more. 
  • Standardize financial structures within contracts, EOWs, MSAs, and other agreements. 
  • Create systems that improve consistency, scalability, and visibility. 
  • Maintain relationships with bankers, lawyers, auditors, brokers, the advisory board, and other third parties that support JourneyTeam's operations. 
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax requirements, and applicable accounting standards, including GAAP. 
  • Review contracts and participate in financial negotiations as needed. 
Qualifications 
  • 10+ years of financial leadership and management experience. 
  • Demonstrated strong alignment with JourneyTeam values. 
  • Strong financial modeling, analytical, and decision-making capabilities. 
  • Ability to build rapport across the organization and drive adoption of company strategies. 
  • Executive presence and interpersonal effectiveness, with the ability to build trust and influence across leadership, cross-functional teams, and external partners. 
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey financial insights clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences. 
  • Deep knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the ability to apply them in both routine and complex business scenarios. 
  • 5+ years of public accounting experience, preferred. 
  • Experience in the Microsoft ecosystem, specifically with Business Central, preferred. 
  • Experience with professional services and consulting contract structure, preferred. 
  • Experience with sales compensation plans, preferred. 
  • Experience with recurring license revenue contracts, preferred. 
Compensation

Base salary for this role is expected to range from $120,000 to $160,000, with a target bonus of 25%, for a total annual target cash compensation range of $150,000 to $200,000.
