Vice President of Finance (CPA Preferred) – Tempe, AZ
Position Type: Full Time, Exempt Employee.
Location: This position based onsite at the Service Center in Tempe, AZ.

About the Opportunity
Ensign Services, Inc. is seeking a strategic and operationally focused Vice President of Finance to join our Service Center in Tempe, AZ. This leader will play a critical role in supporting our rapidly growing healthcare operations across Arizona by serving as a trusted financial advisor to operational leadership, hospital district partners, and regulatory stakeholders.
This position goes beyond traditional accounting leadership. The Vice President of Finance will help drive operational performance, support strategic growth initiatives, navigate complex healthcare reimbursement and regulatory environments, and influence business outcomes through strong financial partnership and leadership.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical accounting expertise with operational acumen, executive presence, and the ability to build strong relationships across both internal and external stakeholders.
Specific Duties include, but are not limited to:
Operational amp; Executive Partnership
  • Serve as the senior finance business partner to Arizona operational leadership and executive teams, helping drive financial performance, operational execution, and long-term strategic growth.
  • Partner closely with facility operators and market leaders to align financial strategy with operational priorities and patient care objectives.
  • Translate financial data into actionable business insights that support operational decision-making and organizational performance.
  • Support strategic growth initiatives including acquisitions, hospital partnerships, operational integrations, and expansion opportunities across Arizona.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with hospital district partners, consultants, external auditors, and regulatory agencies through proactive communication, collaboration, and trusted financial leadership.
  • Provide executive-level financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic investments, operational initiatives, and long-range planning.
Financial Leadership amp; Stewardship
  • Lead and oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes in accordance with GAAP and organizational standards.
  • Oversee financial operations, balance sheet integrity, account reconciliations, and financial analysis across multiple operations and business lines.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal control environments to ensure reporting accuracy, compliance, and operational accountability.
  • Identify financial and operational trends, risks, and opportunities and proactively develop solutions in partnership with operational leadership.
  • Ensure strong financial discipline while supporting continued organizational scalability and growth.
  • Lead the day-to-day accounting functions within the Dallas service center and collaborate with the other service centers.
Financial Planning amp; Operational Analytics
  • Lead forecasting, KPI development, and long-range financial planning processes for Arizona operations.
  • Develop reporting and analytics that help operational leaders better understand reimbursement dynamics, labor trends, operational efficiencies, and performance drivers.
  • Provide financial modeling and operational analysis to support growth initiatives, strategic partnerships, and investment decisions.
  • Drive visibility into operational and financial performance through meaningful dashboards and executive reporting.
Regulatory amp; External Partnership Management
  • Support compliance with state and federal healthcare regulations, reimbursement requirements, and financial reporting obligations.
  • Partner with regulatory agencies, hospital districts, and external stakeholders to ensure transparency, accountability, and strong financial stewardship.
  • Help operational leadership navigate complex healthcare reimbursement and regulatory environments while balancing financial and strategic objectives.
  • Support audit readiness and compliance initiatives across Arizona operations.
Leadership amp; Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing accounting and finance professionals within the Dallas Service Center.
  • Foster a culture centered around operational partnership, accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development.
  • Build scalable processes, enhance operational efficiencies, and support automation and standardization initiatives across the finance organization.
  • Develop strong cross-functional partnerships throughout the organization while reinforcing Ensign’s culture of ownership and leadership development.
Position Requirements
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience, including senior-level operational finance responsibilities.
  • Public accounting experience combined with healthcare or multi-site operational finance experience, strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, financial reporting, and healthcare finance operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with operational leaders and executive teams.
  • Strong executive communication skills with the ability to communicate financial concepts clearly and influence decision-making.
  • Experience building relationships with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, consultants, auditors, and hospital partners preferred.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and operational problem-solving capabilities.
  • Advanced Excel skills required; Workday Financials experience preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and growth-oriented environment.
  • Travel may be required occasionally.
