Business Development Capture Lead - Solar Array Products
Made for the Mission! Redwire’s Goleta facility is delivering advanced power generation technologies that enable spacecraft to operate reliably across every orbit and mission profile. With proprietary designs, deep technical expertise, and large‑scale production capabilities, the team develops solar array solutions tailored to each customer’s size, power, and orbital needs. At the heart of these offerings is Redwire’s patented Roll-Out Solar Array (ROSA), an award‑winning system that uses composite booms and modular photovoltaic blankets to create compactly stowable, highly efficient solar arrays. These mission-proven power systems have supported successful deployments across LEO, GEO, and deep space missions, including the ISS, NASA’s IXPE mission, and NASA’s DART mission.
Summary:
The Business Development (BD) Capture Lead for Solar Power Products is responsible for leading capture activities that drive growth in Redwire’s Solar Array product line. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Business Development for the Power Offerings Group, this role is accountable for qualification, shaping, and winning new business opportunities. The Capture Lead partners closely with engineering, program management, finance, and other business units to develop winning strategies, inform product roadmaps through market insights, and ensure pursuits are aligned with Redwire’s growth objectives. This role manages the full capture lifecycle, including customer engagement, competitive assessment, pursuit strategy development, and proposal leadership to secure new bookings.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead end-to-end capture activities for Solar Power product opportunities to achieve annual orders targets exceeding $100M.
  • Develop and maintain a qualified pipeline of Solar Power opportunities and ensure accurate forecasting of new orders.
  • Become a subject-matter expert in the Solar Power market including customer needs, industry trends, competitor capabilities, and market sizing.
  • Shape opportunities through proactive customer engagement, regular follow-up, and participation in industry conferences and events.
  • Support cross-functional teams—including engineering, program management, finance, and contracts—to develop pursuit and bid strategies.
  • Coordinate the development, review, and submission of Basis of Estimates (BOEs) and proposal documents to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with the overall capture strategy.
  • Develop and communicate capture plans, opportunity reviews, and win strategies to business unit leadership including GM and senior BD leaders.
  • Manage BD and Bid amp; Proposal budgets for Solar Power pursuits, ensuring efficient resource utilization.
  • Support creation and evolution of Solar Power products and technology roadmaps by providing market-driven insights.
  • Collaborate effectively with corporate BD, marketing, and government relations staff on enterprise-wide pursuit efforts.
Ideal Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in aerospace, space systems, or related technical fields with exposure to product development or manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting or leading BD capture and proposal teams to win space-related opportunities.
  • Strong communication skills to include experience with oral presentations, public speaking, proposal writing, and executive-level briefings.
  • Ability to travel domestic and international, approximately 30% annually.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and experience working within structured processes.
Desired Skills:
  • Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand customer technical and programmatic requirements and translate them into actionable capture strategies.
  • Experience leading or contributing to successful capture efforts greater than $10M (Space domain experience preferred).
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience working with Space Systems Prime customers (Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, SpaceX, etc.).
  • CAD software experience

Salaries will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
