Centurion Health is proud to be the provider of healthcare services to the Illinois Department of Corrections.
We are currently seeking a full-time Regional Director of Mental Health Services to join our team. This would be overseeing our Southern Illinois facilities.
As part of the management team, the Regional Director of Mental Health Services provides administrative guidance, consultation and mental health leadership to coordinate clinical needs and provide assessment and treatment of mental and emotional disorders of patients in a correctional setting.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
  • Assist with the development, implementation, coordination, promotion and evaluation of clinical services to include providing direct clinical services
  • Ensure that behavioral/mental health services delivered are in compliance with correctional mental health standards
  • Supervise non-psychiatric staff including psychologists, social workers, counselors, and clerical support as assigned
  • Ensure that non-psychiatric staff are providing services within their scope of practice and under necessary supervision, when applicable
  • Assist in completing duties of staff psychologists when required
  • Identify and develop clinical resources for use by staff in service delivery and enhancement of clinical skills of staff
  • Collaborate with Psychiatric Medical Director in facilitating the integration of psychiatric services into overall mental health program
  • Assist and inform the Program Manager/Vice President of Operations in monitoring all Company related behavioral/mental health programs and outpatient services, ensuring appropriate staff assignments and performance, identifying backlogs or other operational problems, and results of issues and/or actions taken
  • Represent the Company at meetings as requested by the Program Manager/Vice President of Operations
  • Assist Program Manager/Vice President of Operations with recruitment/hiring of behavioral/mental health staff and new hire orientation, and provide feedback on staff performance management
  • Monitor, assess, and coach staff on clinically-related procedures, recommending training or education as needed
  • Interpret and consult on all Administrative Regulations or Standard Operating Procedures related to behavioral/mental health services
  • Conduct/oversee in-service training on behavioral/mental health related topics for the Company and facility staff
  • Provide on-site and on-call services as required to ensure continuity of behavioral/mental health services
  • Identify and maintain professional boundaries to preserve the integrity of the therapeutic process and relationship
  • Proactive in performance improvement activities as demonstrated by participating in the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program (peer review; medical record reviews; membership on the CQI committee) and modifying clinical practices based on CQI recommendations. Provide input that directs CQI activity
  • Ensure compliance with all facility and Company policies, Federal and State laws, regulations, and guidelines including HIPAA
  • Coordinate care closely with security staff while maintaining a positive, collaborative relationship
  • Maintain an ethical commitment to ensure confidentiality within the limits of a correctional environment
  • Understand and comply with safety and security rules and regulations of the institution

Education / Credentials / Experience
  • Ph.D., Psy.D,from an accredited institution required.
  • Active professional license to practice in applicable state required
  • Must receive approval of the Credentialing Review Committee if review requested
  • Must maintain current tuberculosis documentation and active CPR certification
  • Must be able to pass background investigation and obtain agency security clearance where applicable
  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience preferred
  • Five years behavioral/mental health experience in a correctional and/or mental health services environment preferred
