Job description
Ivy Tech Community College invites applications for the position of Senior Vice President of Student Affairs - a transformative opportunity for a bold, visionary, and collaborative leader of institutional quality, evidence-based decision-making, and continuous improvement. This executive is the College's chief architect of the holistic student journey, ensuring that every learner - across all campuses and modalities - experiences a supportive, equitable, and engaging environment from first contact through completion and beyond.
Under the direction of the President, the Senior Vice President of Student Affairs is the College's primary steward for student life, engagement, well-being, basic needs, co-curricular learning, and beyond.
This is more than a leadership role - it is an opportunity to leave a legacy that transforms lives across every corner of Indiana.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Enrollment Management & Recruitment Strategy
- Provide executive oversight for enrollment services, including admissions, recruitment, student records, and CRM based communication systems.
- Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive enrollment management plans that include recruitment, outreach, yield, and conversion strategies.
- Oversee predictive modeling, enrollment forecasting, and data analytics to support institutional decision-making.
- Strengthen partnerships with K-12 systems, community-based organizations, employers, and workforce partners to expand access and enrollment pipelines.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (Title IV, FERPA, etc.) and institutional policies.
- Support the integration of new technologies (e.g., Workday Student) to enhance recruitment and enrollment operations.
Student Success, Advising, & Retention
- Serve as the chief architect of a comprehensive, access-centered student ecosystem, integrating wellness, academic support, wraparound services, and student engagement to ensure a seamless, end-to-end student experience across all campuses and modalities.
- Lead the design, implementation, and assessment of institution-wide student success and retention strategies.
- Oversee academic advising models, student engagement systems, and retention initiatives targeted at high-risk student populations.
- Collaborate with Academic Affairs to align advising, transfer pathways, and program completion strategies.
- Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality services across all functional areas.
Student Affairs, Campus Life, & Student Development
- Provide vision and leadership for student life, student conduct, co-curricular programming, leadership development, and campus climate initiatives.
- Ensure that student voices are elevated and integrated into institutional decision-making.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and developmentally supportive environment across all campuses.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to student conduct and campus safety.
- Foster collaboration among departments to support holistic student development through extracurricular and co-curricular activities.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the President and the College on student needs, emerging trends, and organizational priorities.
- Builds a culture of evidence, continuous improvement, and institutional integrity.
- Oversee budgets, staffing, long-term planning, assessment, and resource allocation across all functional areas.
- Develops and supports a culture of engagement and extreme ownership, creates effective programs to maintain staff skills, and provides guidance to ensure staff career goals and objectives of staff are met.
- Motivates staff to do their very best work.
The Senior Vice President of Student Affairs supervises the following positions:
- Vice President for Recruitment & Enrollment Management
- Vice President for Student Success & Retention Strategy
The Senior Vice President of Student Affairs provides indirect (dotted line) leadership to the campus Vice Chancellors of Student Affairs, ensuring statewide alignment of student experiences.
KEY AREAS OF OPPORTUNITY
Student Experience Integration - Build a unified, end-to-end student experience by strengthening collaboration between Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, creating a seamless "left and right hand" partnership that supports learners academically, personally, and socially. Foster shared priorities, coordinated interventions, and a holistic ecosystem where every student feels known, supported, and empowered from entry to completion.
Seamless Learner Pathways - Continue to emphasize the design of frictionless transitions across the student journey, from dual credit to part-time or full-time enrollment through graduation. Champion cross-campus coordination, data-informed decision-making, and proactive guidance that reduce barriers, accelerate momentum, and strengthen long-term student success.
Service Access, Navigation, and Campus Culture - Expand student access to essential services by simplifying navigation, increasing visibility, and ensuring equitable support across all campuses. Balance the modernization of infrastructure with the preservation of vibrant campus culture, creating environments where students can easily find what they need while still experiencing the community, belonging, and identity that define the College.
COMPENSATION
$275,000 annually, with opportunities for annual incentive bonuses tied to institutional and individual performance goals.
QUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Earned doctorate in a related field (preferred) and substantial experience in postsecondary educational administration.
- Seasoned leader with 10+ years of progressively responsible leadership in student affairs, student success, campus wrap-around services, and other related functional areas.
- Demonstrated success leading complex, multi-unit organizations and supervising senior-level staff.
- Deep knowledge of student development theory, enrollment strategy, advising models, and student success best practices.
- Experience with statewide systems or large, complex institutions.
- Experience in a higher education institution is preferred.
