Position Summary:


The Childrenโ€™s Center of Hamden is seeking a Vice President of Education Services to serve as a strategic and operational leader. This executive role is responsible for the administrative oversight of our school while designing, expanding, and overseeing the development of our partnerships with schools throughout Connecticut.

The VP of Education Services will be the primary architect of regional partnerships, working closely with school districts, state agencies, and community providers to implement life-changing support for children and teens implementing school-linked services.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the intersection between behavioral health and schools, with a passion for growing and developing programs and services.

Working within a continuum-of-care model, the VP of Education Services will advance TCCOHโ€™s Whitney Hall School for students whose emotional and behavioral challenges have disrupted learning. Our campus programs include an array of outpatient behavioral health services and substance use services.

The Vice President of Education Services working closely with and supervising the Principal of Whitney Hall School, establishes goals and develops policies and procedures for educational programming ensuring compliance with all regulatory bodies. The Vice President of Education Services works as a collaborative member of the Senior Management team of The Childrenโ€™s Center of Hamden and reports to the CEO.

This individual shall be aware of and sensitive to the cultural diversity of the client population served.

Key Responsibilities

Partnership Development

  • Regional Collaboration: Cultivate and maintain partnerships across the State and the Greater New Haven region with K-12 school districts, State of Connecticut agencies (DCF, CSDE, etc.), and local community health providers.
  • Funding & Sustainability: Identify and engage with private foundations and public funding sources to secure resources to develop and expand innovative service models.
  • Community Integration: Act as the primary liaison between The Childrenโ€™s Center and the local educational ecosystem to ensure a seamless continuum of care for youth.

Program Design & Innovation

Work collaboratively with our clinical team to:

  • Early Detection & Care: to develop school-based screening and early-intervention programs to identify behavioral health needs before they escalate.
  • Specialized Interventions: Coordinate the implementation of evidence-based solutions for:
  • Behavioral Support Solutions: Tiered interventions for classroom and school-wide settings.
  • School Avoidance & Chronic Absenteeism: Comprehensive strategies to re-engage students and address the clinical roots of attendance issues.
  • Crisis Response & Re-Entry: Protocol development for managing acute crises and supporting students as they transition from clinical or residential settings back into the classroom.

Operational Oversight

  • Program Management: Provide executive leadership to existing educational partnerships, ensuring all programs meet clinical, educational, and budgetary benchmarks.
  • Quality Improvement: Establish metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of school-based services and use data to drive program enhancements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all educational services comply with state education laws, special education regulations (IDEA), and healthcare privacy standards (HIPAA/FERPA).

Qualifications

  • Education: Masterโ€™s degree in Education Administration, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field (6th Year Certificate in Educational Leadership or equivalent highly preferred).
  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in a school district or behavioral health setting.
  • Network: Strong existing relationships within the Greater New Haven educational and social service landscape.
  • Expertise: Deep knowledge of trauma-informed care, behavioral health interventions, and the challenges facing urban and suburban school districts.
  • Communication: Exceptional public speaking and grant-writing skills, with the ability to articulate complex clinical needs to non-clinical stakeholders.
