We deliver insights at critical points of care for better decisions โ€” from streamlining prior authorizations to delivering comprehensive medication histories to facilitating messages between providers.

Job Summary

The VP Product Innovation - Prior Authorization creates and oversees the product strategy, Go-To-Market planning, product roadmap, and lifecycle of an assigned solution portfolio, including solutions related to electronic prior authorization (ePA) and specialty pharmacy, in close collaboration with Product Platform, Sales, Marketing, Architects/Engineering and other administrative and operational teams within Surescripts. The incumbent executes the business plan and the short- and long-term growth strategy of the incumbentโ€™s portfolio of products and capabilities in the market to achieve financial, operational, and market success, with a focus on advancing connectivity, efficiency, and patient access across payer, provider, and pharmacy ecosystems. The VP Product Innovation directs the end-to-end leadership of new and existing products from inception through all phases of the productsโ€™ lifecycle including complex workflows supporting prior authorization. The incumbent focuses on meeting the needs of the end users and the operational aspects of the portfolio.

Responsibilities
  • Create and manage the financial operations of the assigned solution portfolio, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

  • Serve as the primary business leader for the assigned solution portfolio to the Executive Team and occasionally Board of Directors, on business strategy, operations, and metrics.

  • Market and lead customer stakeholder relations to support selling, managing customers and partners, and representing their solution portfolio in the industry.

  • Develop business cases, new innovations, and value propositions for new solutions to extend the solution portfolio.

  • Stay informed and influence regulatory and compliance matters that relate to the success of the solution portfolio.

  • Collaborate within Product Innovation and Growth/Strategy, Finance, Marketing, Legal on the success of the solution portfolio.

  • Recruit, onboard, train and provide leadership to team members supporting the portfolio.

  • Work collaboratively with Surescripts Data & Analytics team to operate and devise new commercial solutions.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent experience.

  • 12+ years of experience in related, progressive roles.

  • 5+ years of experience working in health IT, PBM, pharmacy, payer, or healthcare-related field.

  • Demonstrated experience with electronic prior authorization (ePA) solutions, ideally including experience supporting specialty pharmacy workflows and use cases.

  • 7+ years of people management experience or experience in roles showing progressive leadership.

  • 5+ years of experience directly managing the overall success of a product or line of business.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in business, marketing or computer science.

  • Experience in a multi-sided network business.

  • Deep familiarity with specialty pharmacy operations, including prior authorization complexities, payer-provider-pharmacy interactions, and patient access workflows.

At Surescripts, base pay is one part of our Total Rewards Package (which may also include bonus, benefits etc.) and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this position is $281,900 - $344,500 per year. Your base pay may vary within or outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including (but not limited to) your qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
