Position Purpose

The Vice President of Operations is an executive leader accountable for hospital operational performance, efficiency, and effectiveness. The role ensures exceptional, patient-centered care while delivering strong financial and operational results. In close partnership with clinical, physician, academic, and executive leaders, the VP translates strategy into daily execution, driving performance improvement, leadership alignment, and growth initiatives.

Aligned with Renown’s strategic plan, this position advances five imperatives: People-First culture; mission expansion; an integrated academic health system; essential and advanced care options; and access to high-quality, affordable care.

Provides operational oversight for key hospital services, including facilities, security, clinical engineering, environmental services, food, and nutrition. Ensures operational excellence, quality, safety, caregiver engagement, and fiscal stewardship. Leads business continuity and performance improvement through disciplined analysis, planning, and execution to support sustainable growth and hospital-wide performance.

Responsible for operational, financial, quality, and patient experience performance across assigned departments and divisions. Partners with administrative and physician leaders and medical directors to deliver high-quality, cost-effective care and services. Executes divisional and system strategic initiatives and collaborates effectively in a matrixed environment.

Nature and Scope

This role provides strategic and operational leadership across hospital operations, with accountability for translating organizational strategy into measurable results. The scope includes advancing quality, performance, financial stewardship, and people-centered leadership while strengthening partnerships with physicians, leaders, and the broader community to deliver high-quality, affordable care aligned with Renown’s not-for-profit mission.
