Job description

Environment: This position is located at REMco's principal place of business at 1627 Army Court, Suite 1, Stockton, CA. All job duties and functions are based from this office, but from time to time, the incumbent will need to travel to other locations, such as, vendors, customer sites, etc., to more completely discharge the duties of the position. Travel outside of the local area or travel that requires overnight stay must be approved by upper management.
Organization Structure: The incumbent will report to the President/General Manager. In the course of discharging the duties of Manufacturing Manager, the incumbent, with the assistance of a dedicated Administrative Assistant, will interact with other key managers within the organization, such as, but not limited to: VP Finance, Sales Manager, Customer Service Manager, Financial Manager; Purchasing/Inventory Control Manager, Engineering Manager, Office Manager, HR Manager, Safety Manager as well as other positions as may be required to discharge the duties of the position.
Position Requirements: To function effectively in this position the incumbent must organize, direct and oversee the manufacture of company's goods, equipment and components. The incumbent will ultimately be responsible for the efficient operation of the Manufacturing / Production Department as well as the quality of the finished product(s) by applying the skills, talents, and experience as noted below:
• Experienced supervisor, preferably in the heavy-industry sector with steel fabrication knowledge;
• Knowledge of industrial production procedures including but not limited to; welding, equipment assembly, machining tolerances & processes, maintenance, and safety processes;
• Management/leadership experience with the ability to motivate and direct subordinates towards maximum performance;
• Experience in reporting on key production metrics;
• Proficiency in MS Office, and accounting software preferably Syspro;
• Communication skills to express ideas and opinions in written and/or verbal form;
• Read and understand detailed, manufacturing drawings;
• Results driven with attention to detail combined with strong decision-making skil
Duty: This is a key position in REMco's operation and upper management entrusts the incumbent with sufficient authority, trust, and confidence to discharge duties of their position with full consideration of written company policy, goals, and objectives, as well as California and Federal law. As such, the incumbent is expected to achieve desired performance for the department which may include longer/shorter hours and/or performing tasks assigned by upper management that are not specifically listed in this job description.
Activities:
• Ensure the safety and safe practices of all subordinates in compliance with company policy.
• Efficient and timely production of all new/used/refurbished component parts, equipment and complete machines sold by, produced by, or serviced by the company.
• Interact with other department heads to achieve company goals and objectives within company policies.
• Provide documentation to other departments as required by policy or supervisor directive.
• Accurate recordkeeping of company inventory per company policy or supervisor directive.
• Assist with the preparation for, and active participation in, scheduled physical inventory as well as cycle counts.
• New employee training and on-going training of existing employees for the edification of the company's workforce.
Accountabilities: In addition to the spirit of the duty and activities of this job description, the following accountabilities may be used to determine the incumbent's effectiveness and overall competence in the job.
1. Safety - The incumbent is responsible for the safety and safety training of their subordinates as well as the safe and orderly maintenance/operation of the company's facility and storage area(s) in compliance with company policy and state/federal law including OSHA, Cal-OSHA and CERS.
2. Scheduling - Incumbent is responsible for producing and maintaining production schedules for all subordinate employees, new/used/refurbished/repaired component parts or complete machines.
3. Personnel - Train, cross-train subordinates to improve their abilities, effectiveness and efficiency for the production/assembly of company equipment and component parts. Ensure subordinates always have work to do and are working in a productive manner to achieve goals and deadlines.
4. Production - Make every reasonable effort to ensure production goals are met for all components and complete machines finished on time and on budget.
5. Quality Control - Make every reasonable effort to ensure company products meet the quality standards set by the company. Inspect incoming goods in a timely fashion with good and reasonable care that the inspection is accurate including reporting to other departments as required by policy and or upper management directive.
6. Tools and Equipment - Ensure subordinates are trained on the correct and safe use of the tools and equipment they use in their job. Ensure that all tools and equipment, including but not limited to lifting equipment, is in proper working order. Repair or replace tools and equipment that may be broken, defective or otherwise deficient per company policy which includes but is not limited to any expenditure greater than $250.00 must be approve by upper management.
7. Administrative - Ensure all appropriate files/paperwork are complete and accurate for all department activities, including but not limited to, jobs, work orders, sales orders, engineering change order requests (ECR), inventory cards, etc. per company procedures and policy. Provide accurate accounting information to the Financial Department in a timely fashion. Assist in physical inventory counts and cycle counts as requested.
8. Meetings - Incumbent will attend and participate in meetings as directed by responsibility, policy or upper management.
9. Company Policy - Company policy is set by the employee handbook and upper management. It is the incumbent's responsibility to read, understand and follow policy dictated by the employee handbook and directive(s) from upper management.
10. Other - From time-to-time upper management may assign responsibilities, duties or projects that are not specifically listed in this job description. These other responsibilities, duties or projects are as important to the company's success as any other activity and your full cooperation is required.
