Job Opportunity in Nome, Alaska

The Area Nome is located on the southern Seward Peninsula coast on the Norton Sound of the Bering Sea. It has a population of 4000. A great place to have an Alaskan adventure.

Norton Sound Health Corporation is organized in six sections: Community Health Services, Hospital Services, Medical Staff, Human Resources, Finance, and Engineering and Capital Projects. The President/CEO and General Counsel report directly to the Board of Directors. Direct reports to the President/CEO include those from the Chief Operations Officer, Medical Director, Compliance Officer, Quality Director, Public Relations, Administration, and Tribal Self-Governance.

The departments under Community Health Services include Village Health Services, Behavioral Health Services, Health Aide Training, Wellness, Office of Environmental Health, Infant Learning Program, and Environmental Services/Laundry. Village Health Services manages village clinic staff, including Community Health Aides and Clinic Travel Clerks. Behavioral Health Services includes Nome staff and Village-Based Counseling. The Wellness department includes CAMP, WIC, Tribal Healing, and Nutrition Services.

Fulltime position working in one of the regional village clinics. Must have solid primary care experience and be able to handle emergencies. Seeing all ages of patients Monday - Friday 8am-5pm. Sharing call duties with other providers in the village. Call is usually about 1-2 weeknights per week and one weekend per month.

Compensation and benefits $180,000 - $200,000 DOE. Comprehensive benefit plan. $20,000 sign on bonus. Substantial retention bonus. Relocation up to $15,000. $6,000 CME. CME time off.

NHSC Loan Repayment: This position is at a National Health Service Corps (NHSC)-approved site. Base salary: $180,000 - $200,000/yr. Providers here may qualify for up to $75,000 in tax-free federal student-loan repayment over a 2-year full-time commitment โ€” a total potential first-two-years package of up to $475,000 ($400,000 in base salary over two years + up to $75,000 in loan repayment). Award amounts depend on the annual application cycle and your eligibility.
