Job description

Title:  Lead UI/UX Engineer
Location: Hybrid, Charlotte, NC
Duration: Initial 6 months contract with extensions
Compensation: $ 50 - 55 per hour
Work Requirements: , Holders or or Authorized to work in USThe client is seeking a hands-on Lead UI/UX Engineer to lead the design and front-end development of the TrueData Master Data Platform. This role combines user experience design with enterprise front-end engineering. You will partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, Data Governance, and business stakeholders to design, build, and continuously improve applications that simplify complex data stewardship processes.
The ideal candidate enjoys owning the complete front-end experience—from discovery workshops and prototypes through production-ready Angular development. You will help establish reusable UI components, shared design standards, and development patterns that create a consistent experience across Product, Vendor, and Client domains.Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead the UI/UX strategy, architecture, and design for Product Stewardship, Ingredient Stewardship, Sector Standards, and future TrueData applications, ensuring a consistent, intuitive, and scalable user experience across the platform.
  • Translate complex business processes and data workflows into intuitive user experiences by creating user journeys, wireframes, prototypes, and production-ready designs that improve usability, user adoption, and operational efficiency.
  • Design stewardship-specific workflows for review queues, exception resolution, approvals, match/merge decisions, audit history, bulk updates, and AI-assisted recommendations.
  • Design and deliver large-scale data-intensive user experiences with advanced grids, bulk-edit workflows, search, filtering, saved views, and analytical interaction patterns.
  • Partner directly with data stewards and business users through discovery sessions, workflow observation, usability testing, and prototype validation to ensure the UI reflects real stewardship needs.
  • Develop and maintain scalable, responsive enterprise web applications using Angular, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, and Angular Material, following modern front-end engineering best practices and accessibility standards (WCAG).
  • Design, build, and maintain reusable UI components, shared libraries, and design systems to ensure consistency, maintainability, and scalability across the TrueData platform.
  • Create metadata-driven or configuration-driven UI patterns that allow Product, Vendor, Client, and future domains to share a common framework while supporting domain-specific workflows.
  • Develop and integrate OData v4 and REST APIs to support secure, high-performance data retrieval, filtering, sorting, paging, and CRUD operations while collaborating with backend teams to optimize API performance and integration.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, UX designers, Solution Architects, and Engineering teams to define requirements, refine user stories, and deliver high-quality, production-ready solutions using Agile development methodologies.
  • Optimize application performance, security, and usability through responsive design, efficient state management, lazy loading, code splitting, accessibility compliance, and front-end performance best practices.
  • Implement front-end observability, telemetry, adoption analytics, error tracking, and performance monitoring to measure usability, reliability, and steward productivity over time.
  • Incorporate secure enterprise application patterns including role-based access control, attribute-based access controls, auditability, and traceability of stewardship decisions.
  • Establish front-end architecture, coding standards, and DevOps best practices by participating in code reviews, implementing automated unit and end-to-end testing using frameworks such as Jasmine, Karma, Jest, Cypress, or Playwright, and supporting CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
  • Design AI-assisted user experiences that include confidence scoring, explainable recommendations, human-in-the-loop workflows, feedback loops, and governance controls while keeping business users in control of stewardship decisions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship by promoting engineering best practices, fostering collaboration, guiding developers, and ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable, high-quality, and maintainable enterprise applications.
Required Qualifications
  • 6–10 years of experience designing and building enterprise web applications.
  • Strong Angular development experience.
  • Strong proficiency with TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, and modern front-end development practices.
  • Experience creating UX designs, wireframes, and interactive prototypes using Figma or other similar tools.
  • Experience building reusable component libraries or enterprise design systems.
  • Experience designing or developing complex data-intensive workflows involving advanced grids, filters, approvals, exceptions, audit trails, role-based task queues, and bulk actions.
  • Experience with AG Grid Enterprise or equivalent data grid frameworks including virtualization, server-side models, high-volume datasets, inline editing, and bulk updates.
  • Experience with NgRx, Redux, Signals, or comparable enterprise state-management architectures.
  • Experience integrating enterprise applications with REST APIs.
  • Experience designing secure enterprise applications using role-based access control, attribute-based access controls, and governed data access patterns.
  • Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility, and usability principles.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work directly with Product Managers, engineers, and business stakeholders.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with OData v4 services.
  • Experience with Master Data Management (MDM), Product Information Management (PIM), or Data Governance.
  • Experience designing data-intensive enterprise applications including workflows, forms, dashboards, search, and review queues.
  • Experience implementing metadata-driven UI frameworks, rules engines, configuration-driven behaviors, or schema-based rendering models.
  • Experience building AI-assisted business applications.
  • Experience implementing AI-assisted workflows with explainable recommendations, confidence indicators, human review controls, and user feedback loops.
  • Experience with AWS-hosted enterprise applications.
Success in the First Year
  • Deliver the first generation of stewardship applications.
  • Establish reusable Angular UI components and UX standards for the TrueData platform.
  • Improve stewardship productivity through intuitive workflows.
  • Increase adoption and reduce training burden by creating intuitive onboarding patterns, consistent workflows, and measurable improvements in steward task completion.
  • Become the primary UI/UX and front-end partner for Product Management and Engineering.
  • Lay the foundation for a consistent experience across Product, Vendor, and Client domains.
Ideal Candidate
  • Builder who enjoys both designing and coding.
  • Strong product mindset with excellent systems thinking.
  • Comfortable moving from discovery sessions to prototyping to production code.
  • Passionate about creating enterprise software that is simple, efficient, and scalable.
