Employment Type:Full timeShift:Day ShiftDescription:The Manager of Accounting and Finance-IRMS provides day-to-day operational oversight and leadership to the accounting and finance team members in the Insurance and Risk Management Services (IRMS) department. Ensures that Trinity Health has effective and efficient financial management policies, procedures, practices, internal controls, accounting, and analysis for all insurance products administered by IRMS, including captive and self-insurance. Manages the financial internal and external audits. Manages relationship with external actuaries and captive manager. Leads department and captive insurance budgeting for annual plan and strategic & operational forecasting processes. Provides insurance and risk management financial and actuarial analytics to external stakeholders, as well as to senior leadership at System Office and the Health Ministries. Coordinates and leads cross-functional IRMS teams to efficiently utilize Trinity Health's financial resources. Manages a multi-million-dollar balance sheet and income statement for insurance operations and has oversight for captive insurance financial reporting and audits.

**Position is hybrid and will require some on site time spent in Livonia, MI.

** Candidates must have strong accounting experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Knows, understands, incorporates, anddemonstratesthe mission, vision, and values of Trinity Health in leadership behaviors, practices, and decisions.

Establishes and implementsappropriate structureand processes for Insurance Operations accounting and financial reporting and analytics. Develops standards, methodologies, formats, and ad hoc reports using financial reporting, analysis,and modeling tools to provide improved assessment and reporting of financial, actuarial, and operational performance.Identifyanddirectimplementation ofprocess improvements that increase productivity of limited resources while improving accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.

Implementsappropriate financialreporting methods that provideaccurateandtimelyconsolidation of Trinity Health Insurance & Risk program datain accordance withHome Office policies.

Provides support to SVP Insurance and Risk Management Services by coordinating special assignments as directed by senior management.

Provides education, training,and support toIRMSLeadership Team intheinterpretation of financial results.

Leads, mentors,and provides operational oversight to finance and accounting team members in IRMSby providing operational guidance and subject matterexpertise.Provides insight into understanding IRMS operational process and insurance accounting.

Manages the annual insurance financial statement audit conducted by external auditors, in coordination with Home Office finance and the captive manager. Prepares required audit reporting packages and work papers, including financial statement footnotes.Coordinates internal audit work asrequired.

Prepares executive-level presentations for governance boards and senior management,including materialsforcaptiveinsurersboard meetings.

Managesworkerscompensation premium audit, which includesaccurateandtimelyexposure reporting andfinancial impacton both fiscal and calendar year end.

Lead workerscompensationNCCI reporting process, coordinating between the various internal and external stakeholders.

Manageinsurance recoveryprocessfor all lines of coverage, ensuringaccuratereporting andtimelyrecovery of funds from external insurance carriers.

Managesand directsthe activities related tothe development andpresentation ofIRMSdepartmentand captiveinsuranceannual plan and quarterly forecasts. Presents results to SVP IRMS andSVP Financial Reporting & Shared Servicesprior to submission to Corporate Finance.

Monitors actual financial results and performsactual tobudget/forecast variance analysis and presents results to IRMS management.

Participates in department integration planning and execution for mergers,acquisitions,and divestitures. Coordinateswith Finance to ensure proper accounting of historical liabilities.Determinesappropriate purchaseaccounting adjustments and analyses for insurance reserves, and coordinates deliverables with actuaries.

Develops and manages a system of internal controls covering all aspects of Insurance Operations Finance.

Coordinate and lead cross-functional IRMS stakeholders tomaximize theutilizationofTrinity Health's financial resources, contributing toward TrinityHealth's stronginsurancefinancial position.

Managesrelationshipwith external actuarialfirmthoughweekly meetings to ensure coordination of efforts to meet deadlines andtimely/accuratecommunication between TrinityHealthandactuarialfirm.Works directly with external actuaries toassistin development and finalization of various Trinity Health actuarial reports.Performs interpretation and analysis of results and trends, and comparisons to accounting records.Presents results of analysis to SVP IRMS andSVP Financial Reporting & Shared Services.

Participates inrequests forproposals and conversions to new vendor partners forcaptivemanager,captiveauditors,workerscompensation third party administrators and legalebilling.Key teammemberfor analysis and selection of finalcandidate.

Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health Corporate Integrity Program, Code of Ethics, as well as other policies and proceduresin order toensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of insurance operations, financial reporting, financial analysis, managerial accounting, and data analytics normally obtained through completion of bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, and six (6) to eight (8) years of progressively responsible finance and accounting experience. CPA certification or CMA certification and/or Masters' degree
required.
2. Minimum of five (5) years of management and leadership experience with demonstrated ability to drive improved financial stewardship, process improvement, and meaningful experience managing colleagues possessing the technical and professional skillsets required.
3. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively discuss, report, and explain insurance concepts, financial results, and issues.
4. Must possess a high degree of conceptual, analytical, and independent thinking skills.
5. Must be able to make decisions based on limited data, logical thinking, and ethical principles with demonstrated superior critical thinking skills.
6. Must possess the ability to develop appropriate methods to collect, analyze and report data.
7. Must possess the ability to manage multiple, concurrently running projects and adapt to changing deadlines, competing priorities, and unexpected assignments.
8. Must possess familiarity with insurance and actuarial concepts, including self-insurance and/or captive insurance.
9. Must possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Power Point. Experience with financial systems/software required, such as HFM/Hyperion consolidation system and PeopleSoft general ledger.
10. Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
11. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with and communicate with all levels of the organization.
12. Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring as well as the ability to inspire and to motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.

Hourly pay ranges: $50.80 - $83.81
