Position Title: Senior Vice President of Construction Services

Reports To: Chief Construction Officer (CCO)

Department: Construction Services

Location: Any Ryan office

Position Summary The Senior Vice President of Construction Services is an executive leadership role that will lead the strategic alignment, integration, and optimization of our construction services departments. This role will drive higher value for our clients and team members by supporting our projects with standardized and scalable systems, workflows, and resources. Reporting to the Chief Construction Officer, this executive integrates and leads Project Controls (OpEx), Preconstruction, Virtual Design and Construction (VDC), Engineering Services, Scheduling, Quality, and Sustainability.

Core Objectives
  • Build a World-Class, End-to-End Workflow: Standardize and integrate planning and execution across all construction functions to create predictability, scalability, and accountability while empowering project leaders and delivering exceptional value to clients.
  • Empower People and Strengthen Leadership: Develop a pipeline of highly skilled, multi-disciplinary professionals through targeted training and mentorship, fostering a "one construction department" culture of empowerment and continuous improvement.
  • Drive Growth Through Innovation and Client Value: Lead the adoption of technology (AI, automation, reality capture), embed agile practices, and position the company as a leader in sustainability to drive efficiency, win competitive pursuits, and build long-term client trust.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Vision & Strategy

    • Establish and communicate a clear, measurable vision for the integrated delivery of construction services that aligns with the company’s long-term growth trajectory.
    • Build an end-to-end construction workflow that drives scalability while remaining agile to changing client, market, and project demands.
    • Serve as a thought leader in construction innovation, integrating emerging technologies, sustainability practices, and modern construction methodologies.
  2. Maximize Project Profitability

    • Enhance the accuracy of estimates and the rigor of project controls to eliminate margin fade, optimize resource allocation, and improve overall financial performance.
  3. Integration of Operations & Business Intelligence

    • Align VDC, Project Controls, Scheduling, Quality, Engineering Services, Sustainability, and Preconstruction into a seamless delivery model that reinforces accountability.
    • Partner with Data/Insights teams to design dashboards, predictive analytics, and reporting systems that provide leaders with real-time insights, growing data-literacy and decision-making abilities.
    • Create a Business Intelligence function to uncover and direct technology and data efforts, seeking leading-edge solutions to business problems.
  4. Empowerment of People & Leadership Development

    • Build job-skill-focused training programs for all construction roles, including a cross-functional training program to fill the divide between field and office roles.
    • Inspire, mentor, and grow high-performing teams, empowering leaders at every level to take ownership of outcomes.
    • Foster a culture of empowerment, accountability, and continuous improvement where simplification and agility enable people to do their best work.
  5. Technology, Process Agility, & Innovation

    • Collaborate with the Chief Technology Officer to drive the adoption of AI, automation, reality capture, and digital workflows to measurably improve quality, schedule reliability, and cost predictability to solve complex constructability issues before they reach the field.
    • Champion agile practices that allow the company to respond quickly to client demands and evolving industry expectations to put Ryan on the leading edge of innovation and adoption of operational technologies.
    • Partner with internal shared services (Accounting, Marketing, Legal) and Technology teams to ensure processes, tools, and platforms directly enable growth, maximize efficiency and ensure project success.
  6. Client Value & Growth

    • Position the company as a differentiated partner by embedding all construction services and sustainability capabilities into pursuit strategies.
    • Translate operational excellence into growth by enabling the company to pursue and deliver larger, more complex projects.
    • Represent the company in industry forums as a leader in integrated delivery and operational excellence.
  7. Departmental Oversight

    • Project Controls (Operational Excellence) Guide and support the Vice President of Operation Excellence to establish and enforce standard operating procedures across the project lifecycle. Drive operational excellence by developing KPIs, financial tracking metrics, and reporting dashboards to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Lead the strategic evaluation and adoption of new and emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), to enhance everyday workflows. Oversee the integration of new tools and platforms to create a seamless end-to-end digital construction process.
    • Preconstruction Oversee the Preconstruction department to ensure accurate, competitive, and comprehensive bids. Support collaborative Preconstruction planning by integrating expertise from VDC, Engineering, and Scheduling to deliver comprehensive and accurate project proposals that validate scope, constructability, and logistics. Drive technology adoption and standards that define digital workflows using real-time collaboration tools that result in data-driven estimates that effectively manage project risk.
    • Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Guide and support the Vice President of VDC to champion the adoption and integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other advanced VDC technologies to optimize site logistics, clash detection, and constructability reviews. Champion the development of proprietary technologies and innovative solutions to create a distinct competitive advantage.
    • Engineering Services Guide and support the Vice President of Civil Site Services to provide support to all regions, departments and sectors through pursuit, design, execution, and project management. Champion the use of the engineering services teams, ensuring design efficiency, constructability and compliance with all technical specifications while bridging the gap between external design partners and internal teams.
    • Scheduling Guide and support the Vice President of Scheduling to ensure standardized methodologies and implement predictive technology to identify schedule issues proactively. Support the continued development of a robust forensic scheduling approach to protect company interests during change management and disputes. Champion field manager accountability to adhere to established scheduling standards, ensuring project teams own the schedule update process, provide quality data and adhere to schedule workflows.
    • Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) Direct the corporate quality management program to eliminate rework, reduce warranty claims, and ensure the highest standards of craftsmanship. Implement standardized QA/QC auditing and inspection processes across all regions and project types.
    • Sustainability Partner with clients to identify and implement both local, project level and enterprise level sustainable design and construction solutions, ensuring all projects achieve the clients’ internal corporate sustainability goals. Oversee technical design detailing and resource and materials tracking during the execution phase, to ensure sustainable building practices are seamlessly integrated and fully documented.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field required; advanced professional degree preferred e.g. MBA.
  • Experience: 15+ years of progressive leadership in construction operations with a proven record of designing and implementing enterprise-wide workflows.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to operate in a matrixed organization, lead multiple functional areas, and develop workforce training programs.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of construction technologies (AI, BIM/VDC, automation, reality capture) and their application in field environments.
  • Business Acumen: Executive presence with exceptional communication skills, strong vision, and the ability to influence and drive change.
  • Oversee and direct other construction shared services as they arise and are assigned.
