Department: Sales
Reports To: VP, Distribution Sales

We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Account Manager to join our Heavy Equipment sales team at McCann. As an Account Manager covering DuPage County, IL you will be responsible for the development of new business and the service of existing accounts; new and existing product promotion, working with vendors and manufacturers, assisting customers with problems and dealing with issues that arise in credit and finance.

Responsibilities: (additional duties may be assigned)

  • Secure orders, conduct surveys of assigned territory/account research product populations, locate new prospects and determine prospect's needs.
  • Make sales calls and sales presentations; provide technical assistance to customers.
  • Keep current on new contracts, opportunities, and attendance at meetings and associations activities where improvement programs are offered; settle disputes, estimate and maintain personal relationships with customers; assist in exhibits, demonstrations and meetings.
  • Primary product focus includes sales and rentals of the Company’s Hydraulic Excavators, Wheel Loaders, Crawlers, Loader Backhoes, skid steer loaders, compact tracker loaders, Rollers, and other heavy equipment. Promotion of all of the Company’s products and services by working as a team with other Account Managers as required.
  • Maintain department records; write required reports; advise superiors of all changes in the territory which can affect company success; supervise equipment is correctly delivered meeting all conditions of the sale; instruct owners and operators in safe product operating practices.
  • Assist Credit Manager regarding condition of accounts, assist in collection efforts when necessary.

Qualifications:
  • Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; analytical and interpretive skills; refined oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Physical Requirements: Regularly required to sit; occasionally required to stand; walk; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; occasionally exposed to precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; noise level in the work environment can be loud.
