Position Summary

The Vice President of Accounting and Analytics (VPAA) provides strategic leadership and oversight for all financial accounting, reporting, and data analytics functions across the organization. This role ensures the integrity of financial statements, compliance with regulatory and audit standards, and leverages analytics to drive data-informed decision making that supports the organization’s mission, growth, and sustainability. The VPAA partners closely with the Chief Financial Officer and VP of Finance to align financial and analytical strategies with operational performance and long-term organizational goals.

Requirements:

 Description of Primary Responsibilities

Accounting Leadership

a) Direct all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed asset management.

b) Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial statements.

c) Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure integrity of financial data.

d) Lead preparation of annual audits, Form 990, and other financial filings in collaboration with external auditors.

e) Partner with the CFO in managing treasury functions, cash flow forecasting, and debt compliance.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

a) Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal/state regulations, and healthcare reporting standards.

b) Oversee preparation of Board financial packets, management reports, and variance analyses to support executive decision making.

c) Collaborate with department leaders to review budgets, monitor spending, and ensure alignment with strategic and grant requirements.

d) Provide financial insight for key initiatives such as grants, GME programs, capital projects, and payer contracts.

Analytics & Business Intelligence

a) Build and lead a high-performing analytics team focused on financial, operational, and clinical performance metrics.

b) Develop and maintain dashboards, KPIs, and data visualization tools that enhance organizational transparency and accountability.

c) Partner with IT and operations to ensure data governance, integration, and reporting accuracy across systems (e.g., EMR, ERP, HRIS).

d) Translate complex data into actionable insights to improve efficiency, quality, and financial outcomes.

e) Support predictive modeling, cost analysis, and benchmarking for strategic projects.

Leadership & Collaboration

a) Mentor and develop accounting and analytics staff, fostering a culture of excellence, accuracy, and innovation.

b) Collaborate with the CFO and senior leadership to align financial strategy with organizational goals.

c) Represent the Finance and Analytics departments in cross-functional leadership meetings, audits, and Board presentations.

d) Drive continuous improvement and system optimization across accounting and reporting platforms.

Compliance and Internal Control

a) Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including HRSA, and AAAHC standards.

b) Maintain accurate documentation and internal controls for audits and financial reviews.

c) Oversee maintenance of grant and contract files, leases, and financial agreements to ensure completeness and audit readiness.

Qualifications

a) Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required.

b) Strong technical expertise in GAAP, healthcare accounting, and financial systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Enterprise, or similar).

c) Demonstrated success in developing analytics programs and leveraging data tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SQL).

d) Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.

e) Proven ability to manage complex projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively across departments.
