Description:
ABOUT US:
Voss Manufacturing is a third-generation, family-owned manufacturing company built on integrity, precision, and the belief that quality work speaks for itself. Rooted in American grit and guided by a future-focused vision, we treat every job and every person with respect. We believe in rolling up our sleeves, doing whatโs right (even when no oneโs looking), and using our experience and ingenuity to make things better, smarter, and more efficient.
THE ROLE:
This is more than just running a lathe. As a CNC Lathe Machinist, youโll work with state-of-the-art DMG MORI mill-turn and turning centers. Youโll be programming in Mastercam/CAD at a high level, setting up complex turning jobs, and producing precision components that meet demanding tolerances. Youโll be counted on to deliver quality work the first timeโno excuses, no shortcuts.
WHAT YOUโLL DO:
Programming & Production (80%)
โขWrite advanced CNC turning and mill-turn programs at the machine and offline (Mastercam preferred).
โขProgram, set up, and operate DMG MORI mill-turn and lathe equipment.
โขDesign and build custom workholding solutions to support accurate turning operations.
โขInterpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions for correct setups and processes.
โขSelect and install appropriate cutting tools, tool holders, and accessories.
โขTroubleshoot machining issues and adjust parameters to maintain tolerances.
โขInspect and measure parts using precision tools to ensure quality standards.
Maintenance & Safety (10%)
โขPerform routine lathe maintenance and keep the work area clean and organized.
โขFollow all safety procedures, including the use of material handling equipment like cranes and carts.
โขMaintain and operate machines with care, using proper PPE and lockout/tagout protocols as needed.
Documentation & Reporting (5%)
โขMaintain accurate records on quantities produced and quality performance.
โขFollow detailed work orders and report deviations or issues as they arise.
Additional Duties (5%)
โขParticipate in training and cross-functional support as assigned by supervisors.
โขContinuously improve your own processes, tools, and workflows.
COMPENSATION:
โขCNC Lathe - $28 - $38 per hour - commensurate with experience and specialty.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
โขThis role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Youโll spend most of your time on your feet and hands-on with machines. All tasks must be performed safely, using proper techniques and PPE as required.
WHY YOUโLL LOVE WORKING HERE:
โขA welcoming, no-drama culture grounded in integrity, respect, and craftsmanship.
โขThe chance to build something real - machines that actually do the work.
โขA seat at the table in a growing company that sees the value in your ideas.
โขLeadership that believes in your potential, not just your past.
