Job description

Position Summary
Under general administrative direction, coordinates with the surgery team to provide surgical equipment room set-up according to physician preferences for all surgical procedures performed in the Operating Room. Assists with all surgery related equipment, coordinating logistics, maintaining cleanliness, organization and asset inventory. Participates in education and training of surgical equipment functioning with the surgery team. Functions as an advocate to improve efficiency for the surgeon and the surgery team, measurable by physician satisfaction and increased surgical capacity and caseload. Supports and helps achieve departmental goals. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Biomedical training or Surgical Technology training
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Previous work experience in logistics, outfitting, provisioning, or equipment management or work experience as a Surgical Technologist
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Surgical Technology experience; or Management experience in logistics, outfitting or provisioning; or Biomedical experience
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: NA
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
  • Credentialed in CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or;
  • Certification as a Certified Professional Logistician (CPL) from International Society of Logistics (SOLE); or
  • Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) from the International Certification Commission (ICC) and the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), or
  • Biomedical Electronics Technician (BMD) from the Electronics Technician Association (ETA) after first obtaining the Associate Electronics Technician certification
    (CET).
    REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
