Job Purpose and Reporting Structure:

Under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, this individual sets up and operates slitting machines to slit continuous length of film material, meeting delivery requirements and quality standards to the customers specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Determine which jobs are to be run based on production release reports and customer delivery requirements. Review job information packets.
  • Set up machines ensuring proper operation.
  • Bring master rolls to machine, thread film, ensuring accurate rewind, footage, cores and blade sizes. Set web guide, brake, tension and laydown pressure.
  • Observe flow of material through machine to detect irregular cutting and winding, ensuring specifications are correct.
  • Apply appropriate labeling on completed products.
  • Stack film.
  • Make certain all documentation and reporting is complete and accurate.
  • Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Adhere to the GMP Policy.

Qualification Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience:

Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma and three to twelve months of related experience to become familiar with equipment and processes.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on one and small group situations.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Requires the ability to operate slitting machines, hand trucks, hoists, small hand tools, and use basic measuring devices.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools or controls. The employee frequently is required to walk and reach above shoulders. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee occasionally works in high precarious places and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and to the risk of electrical shock.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
